I mean...rappers really not saying shyt in these dire times:

  • No conscious rappers to discuss how fukked we are living
  • No animated rappers that are on some Luda/Busta shyt with skills
  • All the backpackers are on Bandcamp and hidden from the public
  • Coke raps= Modern day lyrical spirituals
The game is fukked if we keeping it a buck, but it's better to hear how much the weight is moved to some drumless beats vs a bunch of shirtless goofies waving guns and talking about some opps that got smoked :francis:
Sauce Walka's Ghetto Gospel 3 falls into the bolded perfectly

Honestly I dont post on here much anymore, just havent had the time but I've still been at least taking a glance over the topics and listening to new shyt......

....i've never seen the game as stale as it is right now. Its just dead, there little to no good projects coming out from major artists and the stuff that is good is still fairly rehashed shyt that has had the same sound and style for years. Its been a minute since someone shifted the culture or scene I never it remember being this long honestly :hhh: :mjcry:

Check out Twiztids new album Glyph

What’s funny about this is that boy rappers dont even exist anymore

Conscious rappers will always be corny and only had an outlet because of gatekeeping

There's no one really to take the baton from the past big artists tbh

Lil Baby's last album came and went, Roddy fell off, Da Baby outta there, Megan music ain't hitting enough, hell I can keep going. There hasn't been a real movement to shift the culture and bring new fresh and interesting artists to the game since the Blog Era (unless you wanna include the SoundCloud era). Something needs to happen

Trap music is literally a TRAP, artistically speaking.

Boldy James. Sauce Walka. Willie the kid. Mach Hommy. Larry June. JID. Benny. Payroll Giovanni. Jay Worthy.

Plus Nas giving us better music than anyone.

All the above (plus others I’m forgetting) is enough for me

Women care more about how these female rappers look more than men do. You think it’s us going out spending all this money on meg the stallion and saweetie shyt? They dressing up and doing these looks for their female fans, women don’t want to follow chicks that look like Rapsody and thats just the gods honest truth.

You act like they washed, like i said before, there ain’t no one out here really generating hype on the same scale as drake, kendrick and to a slightly lesser degree cole.
No, I’m not acting like they’re washed. This thread is about the game being stale, thus talking about newer artists, those guys are vets, they’re not the new generation nor new stars. What post 2018 artists are both middle ground and very popular/stars? All the new stars are extra violent and/or extra doped up

And I’m not gonna debate with you what women do/want/look for in artists. You’re wrong…funny thing is, I’ve had male posters on this board tell me how women don’t support females that are too pretty, which one is it - we don’t support average looking women (glorilla says hi and a lot of women think cardi is avg to below average, she just had tons of surgery) or we don’t support pretty women (nicki, Beyoncé, and Mya all say hello)

You trippin, non mainstream acts had the best projects last year - Joey badass, Denzel curry, jid, Vince staple, Larry June, smino, ab soul
thois is exactly what i mean

these projects were good, most not great, just solid projects. yet none of them moved culture or the needle at all

bro no one cares about any of these artists outside of JID....and im not knockin them i like a lot of them but thats sort of my point that you're missing. also while this music is GOOD it isnt INNOVATIVE

That has nothing to do with the game being stale, nothing shifts music as much in any genre due to how siloed listeners are. Even house albums from Beyoncé and Drake of all people didn’t move the needle as far as making house music a trend….those days of mass paradigm shifts are over
