Blame them for bad advertising. In 2015 , people aren't paying attention to the CEO's like that because they know how to get out of the way of their product. and you are crazy if you think any of those CEO's wouldn't get the same treatment if they started playing the underdog every time they tried to launch a new product.
and you must of forgot when Microsoft received ton of backlash when they introduced the Xbox one

And to address your first point, None of those company CEO's have advertising that makes you feel like you are donating or some freedom fighter. Nobody feels like they are taking a "stand" when buying a Xbox. Go back and watch the commercial and come back and tell me what you took away from it.
