I think they leaked it on purpose. If this was beyonce's album, they would've made sure that it wouldn't have leaked.
Anti is on tidal
Update:
They released the album.
Itunes link: ANTI (Deluxe) by Rihanna on iTunes
If you haven't bought it yet (or gotten it free from samsung/tidal), you can listen to it here.

She didn't go platinum. How many of those albums were actually BOUGHT by the general public. You could probably round the number to 0.

Tidal prompted me to provide a CC. They are banking on people forgetting to cancel.
Tidal isn't doing very good. Free subscribers (who didn't even give their credit card number) are not the same as paying subscribers. Tidal will never be on top. There was no need for them from the beginning. No need for a product/service=failure. There was no need for apple's streaming service either, but apple is apple and people love apple b/c of the name. Spotify will stay on top.
Tidal is not winning. Tidal can not count those new free trial subscribers who joined b/c of free ANTI b/c tidal doesn't even have their credit card number. They can only count the paying subscribers. People will leave tidal as soon as the itunes link is available and the free trial is done, which most people have done already which is why tidal was stealing from them LOL.
Go back and read. It was a success for rihanna, not tidal. Samsung paid for those albums and people went to get it for free from tidal. Rihanna is certified Platinum. Tidal didn't get not one penny from subscribers who joined for free only to listen to a free album. Jay z did get paid b/c her album was distributed through roc nation (it was released under rih's own label), but tidal didn't make much. If they are paying the artist more like they claim, that probably means they are making less for streaming that other streaming services, unless it was the labels who were taking the money from the artist and not the streaming services, which would only add another reason why tidal is useless.
Tidal needs to learn that people will use the free trial for one project/album/exclusive then drop them, so that strategy will not work. Most people already have spotify or are ok with itunes and have no reason to use tidal. They need to come up with something else in they want to continue playing.
Yes it has. Do you not remember when most of the popular pop music sounded like edm a few years ago? It has and it changes, but right now, there is no specific sound really. I am noticing that some of it is becoming more r&b influenced though.
This aint the old day's of getting payed, she got paid lovely already by samsung($25,000,000), and 1 million people downloaded it, along with the 14 million streams. All in 14 hoursShe didn't go platinum. How many of those albums were actually BOUGHT by the general public. You could probably round the number to 0.

It's not hyping sales, its moving units!Very little artists make money off of album sales anymore but that isn't the point. People shouldn't be hyping "album sales" that are no where close to being legit.,
I don't think Rihanna has ever sold 200K albums in one week.
That was Universal's fault. They're the distributor and they upload the music to the music services for streaming and download. Universal just fukked up and leaked it a day early, like they did when they dropped Kendrick's album a week early, last year.It wasn't planned to release that day. Room 8 wasn't even open yet. They pushed everything up after it leaked. Work (and maybe the snippest) was the only thing that was supposed to come out that day. Then room 8 was supposed to open giving out the album on tidal.

You are looking at it from a popular fan base. I'm looking at it from a business point of view. If all I have to do is get my music to the people by making moves with certain corporations, that is the ultimate hustle move. People did download the album, which means those people still listened to the album. In fact they listened to it numerous times(14 million streams in 14 hours), so that's safe to say at least a million people liked it. If anything this is way better then going by physical sales, because at least with the new model, everyone eats(if your business is correct), and you have info on the people who like the album, so now you can market directly to your actual fans, and not just people who just listen to be part of the crowd.
Y'all are complaining, and don't realize how much of a lesson this is for music people who want to get into the business without kissing industry ass. You may not get a big sponsorship like jay, and rhiana, but you can get one nonetheless. Look at how those westbrook chicks are using Instagram photos to get paid. All they do is take a picture with said product, tell you to go get it, and they are done. That's creative thinking.
