His first 3 albums sold 13M copies

His last 4 albums sold about 3.5M

His sales dropped almost 65% from And Then There Was X... to The Great Depression

He fell off hard

But most artists cant say that they sold that much or that they ever will... So yeah there you go... If that's falling off then let me get on so I can fall off after selling over 16 million records :dead:

Which is why it's one of the "worst falloffs"

How do you fall off if you're never "on" in the first place?

"So yeah there you go" :francis:

It's Hot and Hell is Dark - 4x Platinum (#1)
Flesh of my Flesh, Blood of my Blood - 3x Platinum (#1)
And then there was X - 5x Platinum (#1)
The Great Depression - 2x Platinum (#1)
Grand Champ - Platinum (#1)
Year of the Dog - Gold (#2)
Undisputed - 50k (#19)

DMX had one of the greatest commercial runs for a rapper in Hip Hop History. He didn't have a lot of high charting singles. His biggest hit on the charts was "Party Up" which peaked at #27. Ironically DMX best performance on the charts was on featured Lox and Lil Kim's "Money Power Respect' which peaked at #17. DMX has never had a #1 single Hot 100 or RnB but he did have a #1 on the rap charts. He's had 13 Top 20 Rap hits. But DMX was not only to have come commerical hits, he always had hits for the streets and hoods.

People love to talk about Drake's run now but DMX's 5 straight #1 albums and "Year of the Dog" was very close to be his 6th. Look at the sales from his 1st 4 albums. Now to the point of the thread. X fell off around 2004. So his run of solid music went from about 97-04. "Year of the Dog" was a nice comeback album but it didn't bring him back. He then took 5 more years off so by the time "Undisputed" dropped a lot of his fans were grown and weren't checking for him like they use to. But X can still tour all over the world and make dough if he wants. X music has sold 30 Million worldwide. He's one of the highest selling rappers ever. It's sad that legal issues, drugs and bad decisions hurt X's career. But his run is way better then Drake's. Now DMX is a Hip Hop Legend. No Doubt about it.

X didn't fall off...he didn't want it anymore. And still doesn't today. Dude is happy with what he achieved and would rather dabble with drugs and ATV's. I mean he's paid still.

No bruhs we fell off...his loyal fan base, we fell off, left only with memories and thoughts of what could've been:snoop:

DMX had at least 4 standout albums. with 1 or 2 of them being classics. the last standout being over 5 years after his debut. that alone is more than the standard run. not to mention all the tours, compilations, guest features, movies, etc.

plus X was around alot longer than some of you think. he was no spring chicken.

this whole DMX fell off bad stuff is illogical. people applying post-viacom logic to the '90s- early '00s.
just cuz hes not being shoved down our throats everyday like other washed-up rappers, doesnt mean that he fell off any worse than them.

he fell off breh. The drugs got the best of him.

By 2015 he probably would've been done anyway, but his career could've lasted longer.
