What GSP does to cats is almost as bad as Silva knockin cats out. You got an older brother?

He's definitely dominant. I'll always give him that. He's great at controlling his opponent. But he and Anderson are miles apart. Not in talent, but what they actually do with them in the octagon.

GSP used to fight with heart, now dude is just content to cruise. Why condone that? I mean do you honestly believe he really tried to stop Nick Diaz last Saturday? Or was he just content with running out the clock with a lot of ground control and sprinkle limited offense throughout?

At least Diaz showed some adaptation by finally stuffing some of the takedowns to mount some kinda offense.

:what: huh? not from a philosophical standpoint and not from an entertainment standpoint either :mindblown:

He's rendering grown ass men, trained in various martial arts, completely helpless for majority of 25 minutes. From a fighter's perspective it's not just humbling, it's completely demoralizing.

That's why I asked if he's got an older brother. GSP essentially Big brother'd Nick Diaz on Saturday night. Just held him down and hit him with impunity. And when they were standing he stayed out of Nick's range and jabbed his face repeatedly. Classic big brother shyt.

And like I said before, GSP doesn't give a fukk about your entertainment. He's winning fights and he's the PPV king of MMA.

not sure if this was asked, but looking at the thread title, got me thinking, how or when did he get his nickname?

I think fighters basically giving up on there stool or having helpless defeated looks on there faces and saying they want to retire is a good equivalent to being knocked out sheeeit id say its even more demoralizing than Silva knocking dudes out in 30 seconds...

I have no issue, with it but stop saying you are going to do it :manny:

Why would it bother someone if he says he is going to finish someone and doesnt, its apart of almost every fighters pre game ramble to say hes gonna knock out his opponent...I dont get alot of this hate for GSP and im not a huge fan of his or UFC...

Id like to see him knock some people out but it doesnt make him any less dominant that he isnt...I agree with PhillyCavs analysis that GSP doesnt really feel threatened by anyone hes fightin right now so hes content to just bully or big brother them for 5 rounds which is almost as much of a message to other WWs and Dana that hes on another level than some of his so called competition...Hes toying with these dudes and allowing them to stay in it for 5 rounds but he shows them that still have no shot and he can still eliminate most of there gameplan pretty easily..I agree in many ways thats just as demoralizing...

This is not a trend we should be condoning as fans. Are you a fan though? This is on some pulling punches, Karate tournament style shyt. Why hit them for real when you can just show you "coulda" punched them and demoralize them.... not cool.

I'm sorry but cruising in any form of combat sports sucks and shouldn't be advocated, no matter how "dominant" it makes a champion look.

Agreed, he has been a dominant WW champ, but I wouldn't say he's toying with his opponents. I call it playing it safe. You know who toys with opponents? Anderson Silva dropping both hands and eating shots. Then goes on to finish them off.

Not saying GSP has to fight like Anderson either, Silva is one of a kind.

You think being able to stay on top of a world class BJJ fighter is "cruising"?

your stretching the meaning of "world class" right now

world class is roger gracie, jacare and damien maia, not nick diaz.

GSP is holding on, every once in a while throwing pitter-patter punches and short elbows, refusing to get his back when its open to him, not trying for subs, and in general stalling but working just enough so the ref doesn't stand them up. george is a master of neutralizing, not fighting

"reactive not proactive" sums him up perfectly

C'mon, we know GSP is not weak in the wrestling or BJJ department either. Dude is definitely cruising. He was dominantly winning rounds by wash rinse repeating that point-system friendly style, but at what point did you see him adjust or turn it up to try and finish off Nick? But then again, why risk fighting when you're up on score cards right?

i never understood complaining about a fighter being boring

did you really expect him to change his gameplan he's perfected over the years so you can get a couple of oohs and ahhs for a night?
some of you nikkas would rather look good losing than look boring winning
