Brady played 269 games and still going. Five rings. Montana had four rings in 192 games. It's not "hate" to point out the differences in eras. It's like when people sit around here and talk about hand checking and analytics with the NBA past and present.

There's nothing Brady does that Montana didn't do and couldn't do. Brady might be the GOAT but to dismiss Joe is foolish.

to me, I have to now go with Brady bc of who he's been playing with. a carousel of running backs and regular wide receivers.

The 49ers were 14-2, had one of the best offenses ever, Montana was mvp, and were going for a third straight super bowl.

And he got hurt on a play that in today's league would have given them 15 yards and a first deep into Giants territory. :pachaha:

Y'all just can't help it.. Joe did and accomplished everything there was to do in a league that was tougher on QBs.

He passed him some years ago. A lot of people don't want to admit it because it's the Pats and somehow no one has found a way to stop them. And after seeing both of those fukk boys endorse that guy in the White House, a lot of people are either denying it flatly or just hoping for their demise. Well, at least i know i am.

The other point is that the 49ers struggled to do anything on offense that game.

And Brady is the GOAT. I know you gotta keep hope alive but this is basically settled. Only 49ers fans are fighting this battle. You brehs sound like southerners still fighting the Civil War today.

It's only settled if you are dismissive of the fact that today's game is far different than the 1980s. Montana was already efficient in a league where it was far tougher on QBs. He'd be more efficient today than he was then and there is no debating that. :manny:

you mean dismissed the same way you have dismissed every quarterback who played before 1980?

You are full of shyt. You cry about ignoring the past while also ignoring the past.

He passed Montana back in 2010.:mjlol:.

Players are biggest, faster, and stronger today. QB's still get rocked today.

Defenses are far more complex and advanced today.

Brady has played in the salary cap and FA era.

He passed Montana a long time ago.

lol you making coli garbage nba arguments "bigger" "stronger" faster lmaoo. That's not how this works. go read a book on human evolution if you don't believe me.

What's better today is technology and the ability to have more information presented to you in a faster amount of time and better toold for game planning.

Instead of bill walsh showing 49ers players still slides on a projector about how to stop the opposing team you have sean mcveigh sending out emails to his players and they can immediately watch an entire game presentation from their device of choice.

Who am I dismissing? You are just using the word "cry" because you can't attack everything I've said which is all based in fact. Terry Bradshaw? Unitas? If you'd like to make a case for them go ahead and make a case. This is a thread on Brady and Montana. Montana having an advantage over a previous era doesn't change the longevity argument that's been made and the laundry list of advantages Brady has over QBs who played in the 80s and 90s.

Nah...Brady is a great, but he doesn't seem to be a clear front runner imo. Montana is a clear front runner imo.

There's just too much controversy over his wins...whether its cheating with Spy-gate, deflate-gate or the bad opposing calls by other teams in big games with the Seahawks and the Falcons.Just "lucky" moments where teams who were clearly going to beat them just made the worst decision possible. it seems that as time passes, people just forgot about that stuff or purposely ignore it and go by the end result.

To simply say 5>>>4 and then not to add in other factors such as his losses (yes those work against him imo) and the fact that the league is very QB friendly and the fact that Brady has never had a chance to work without Belicheck to prove that's it's him and not just the coaching are too questionable.

Montana is undefeated with 4 SBs without the controversy, plus he took a team like the 93' Chiefs to the AFC chamionship with little to no help. But what keeps Brady in the discussion IMO, is not really just the number of SBs, it's the SBs along with the number of playoff runs and the fact that he's always been a top 3 QB every year for so long, even winning league MVP just last year. That in itself is amazing and his numbers are almost untouchable.

Montana is still #1 though. There's no question to what he accomplished. Brady on the otherhand hand got "lucky" and/or was caught cheating in a few instances.
