I think people make a big thing about the stretch with Trent and Deebo out, but tbh I think it was largely a Trent thing. People will act brand new because it's Purdy but there's a fukking reason LT is considered such a necessary position. SF's O-line is 71 and a whole mess of question marks on the best day. Having him out without anyone to shore the line up and then going into teams with D-line defensive strengths is... an expected bad situation.
SF's playbook is full of 7 step drops. Timing routes, predicated even further on Purdy's anticipation and rhythm. Having someone breathing down your neck when you aren't even through half your dropback and 2 of your players are still at/behind the LOS because of the motions isn't a winnable situation usually. If your O-line anchor was removed on any other team, there would be a drop in production, but people seem just fine ignoring that SF losing the unanimous top LT in the NFL for a few weeks... should matter?
You don't just 'next man up' Trent fukking Williams. If you could, he wouldn't be getting paid what he is.
