Rhianna is broke?![]()

ain't no fukkery going on over there. Jlaw got her nudes leaked but he bank account is
Yeah but is he with TIAG Ent., def jam or YM
You mean to tell me RHQ, got 3 labels taking money from him.![]()
0 buzz ? Pass Me The Hookah has as many hits as Rich Homie Quan/Young Thug lifestyle, which according to a lot of people in this thread is a bigger hit than Tyga ever had![]()
pretty much everything in this post is wrongI'm gonna assume you mean Twist...Being seen with people =/= hit records...unless Beiber's team signed off on a feature for Twist that got him a hit instead of doing everything in their power to keep him away from their artist, none of that means anything [/quote]2 years or so ago Lil Chuckee was EVERY where with Justin Beiber, they failed to capitalize on that
Neither Mannie nor Juvie are signed to Cash Money...Juvie is cool with Baby again and has been running around with him and in the entourage repping Rich Gang and sh!t, but far as I know is still technically signed to Rap-a-Lot...where he released his past 2 albums that not a single fukk were given bout (but let it even be rumored that he's back with CMR and there's now some big concern bout the state of his careerMystikal got out of prison, released some songs, where the album out ? He might not sell much NOW, but when he got out and signed to Cash Money he woulda been good for 40-100k records and in this climate thats good.
Manny Fresh and Juve supposedly back with the label, where are they at ?
You know its bad when fukking BUSTA RHYMES leaves you, he was fukking After Math for damn near a decade
)
...I know the label is always the bad guys from the fans perspective, because they're standing in the way between us and the music with their pesky need to make money and keep the doors open..but not releasing projects that you KNOW are gonna flop is sound business...it's just that these ddues aren't psychics and don't know what's a good or bad signing before the fact, or sometimes just sign people for sentimental reasons... take Mystikal...it's so easy to go "oh Cash Money ruined and wasted his career" now that wanted to leave the label...but he was out of prison for 2 years before he signed with them and didn't have jack shyt to show for it but a couple of youtube videos of him freestyling in Mannie's truck on the side of the road...no other labels were looking to sign him then and when CMR did decide to reach out he was giving interviews like they had just saved his life...fast forward two years, no hit records and his project is stalled...shyt happens it's the record business...something like only 35% of signed artists actually release an album...only a fraction of those albums that do come out turn a profit...labels make a gamble everytime they sign an act, and only make money cause of the small % of them that turn out to be stars..90's rappers like Bust and Mystikal should be on indie or low-budget major owned niche boutique labels where there is no expectation of hitmaking..small budget with minimal marketing so they don't have to sell muchLil Wayne got an album coming out October 28th, I dont even know what single he has right now![]()
... Cash Money is far from a perfect label but GOOD LUCK to him finding a label after they drop him that is gonna treat an act of his level and track record as some kind of priority...we're 300 posts deep in this thread like damn near every established rap act on Def Jam, acts with 10x the cache of tyga like Jeezy and Luda and Fab, haven't been making these same exact complaints bout their label all year...Birdman is so fascinated with Rich Homie Quan, Young Thug and Soulja Boy that hes ignoring everyone else.. Whats funny , is NONE of them are even signed to Young Money (maybe soulja boy is, dunno).. You do gotta see it as odd that Birdman been around Rich Homie Quan and Young Thug for what? 3 months ? 4 months at the most ? And they already have a album/mixtape of new beats and everything out..Ive never been 1 to go with the whole "birdman raping these cats out here" type shyt, but you do gotta admit somethin is funny with that situation..
and eats off the publishingYea man. There's a few people in here who knows what the business really is. And a shytload more who are talking out their ass, based on tv and "the club"@Venem breh's really getting 5 cents a record out here? Thats only 25k IF they go gold
What about an artist like J.cole? he produced his whole last project, how much do you think he gets per record?
Yea man. There's a few people in here who knows what the business really is. And a shytload more who are talking out their ass, based on tv and "the club"
The club is not the charts. The club is not radio spins. The tv is not a deed to a house. A vlog is not a title to a lambo. All the bragging these dudes do, I've only ever seen one person EVER show a title or deed. That was bow wow on his lambo
Dudes getting sued left and right for not returning renting jewelry. Dudes getting jacked and the robbers can't even sell the chains cause the diamonds are fake
But the masses aren't on the Internet having these convos. shyt they barely one world star. Talk to the masses and they don't know shyt when you actually have a hip hop convo. They don't who is signed to who. Who's cool with who. And have a bunch of made up stories of "oh you didn't know jay and busta was cousins" type of nonsense
But to answer your question. Yes. 5 cents a record. I'll break it down. There's a famous saying. Do you want to be famous or do you want to be rich??
Artist A is nice as fukk. He rap for a nikka who knows jayz. Jayz wants to sign him. Well this dude has no sales, no fans, no shows, no leverage. So jay is gonna be like you basically sign with me or bye bye. Nobody knows you. Nobody cares
You'll sign for the 5 cents. He might offer you 200k for all your publishing. And advance you 200k. Then take 50% of everything else you make (360).
You think you balling. You on tv with jay. You making high priced videos. You got money for DOWN PAYMENTS on cars and houses. You taking care of your boys. You opening for jay at stadiums. You got a million dollar budget
But you forgot you not getting shyt when you sell if you sell. You gotta pay back that million dollar budget. You gotta pay back that 200k advance. You getting half your show money gone. And if you flop, welcome to the shelf... You don't make your own hit again, you'll never get another release.
But hey. You're famous. You're the young guns. You were on and everyone knew you. Next thing you back in philly with little to no money and nobody cares cause you ain't making no hits
Artist b is like a currency. You might have had another deal before so you kinda known. Or you just grinded on your own. You charted once, very low. You sold 20k albums on your own. You do shows and can get 3000 people to show up. You have 4 labels who want to sign you
Well now you can start making demands. Hey if def jam won't give you a non refundable advance, then Sony will. If Sony won't let you keep your publishing, then Atlantic will. You can negotiate. You have power. You can get a dollar a record. You can get a release date written in the contract.
A j cole didn't have a buzz. He probably got screwed on rap. But he produces. Producers gonna always make more. For one he doesn't have to pay other producers. And he gets writing credit and publishing AND producing pay and publishing. So he gets paid twice off all his records
That's it tho. If you not a nikka in label bidding war, you getting what they give you.http://www.complex.com/music/2009/05/j-cole-talks-roc-nation-meeting-jay-z-the-warm-up-mixtape
damm j cole signed a 360 deal..he admitted it back in 09.
I don't know about him getting that much from publishing from producing. Like 95% of J cole's albums are just samples, they are taking mad money from him.
At least he is not paying the hottest producer like 30k for a beat though! Damm J cole's albums must be cheap to make since he pretty much does everything.
That's it tho. If you not a nikka in label bidding war, you getting what they give you.
If you never walked into a label and have no other labels calling. How easily are you walking out on hov, in hopes you'll get another chance?
But j cole is getting that much.
Every song is split down the middle off top. 50 goes to writerS. 1 writer gets 50% or 10 writers split that same 50%. The other 50% goes to producer. Same principle if you have 10 producers, but who does that. That's why Dre will take producer credit but give you "keyboards" or some shyt and pay you out of pocket for your service. He eats forever. Even tho you played the whole damn beat for him on the boards
did art barr at least like this song???
he showed some skill here, didn't he???
only tyga song i can stomach, ot be honest!!!
I don't believe that's true. I COULD BE 100% WRONG THO.Yeah but producers are automatically credited as writers now.
And I said J cole samples ALOT! Like every track! Who ever he is sampling is taking good amount of it.
NOW people are Tyga fans all of a sudden. so predicatable
why is your rep so fukked up? I remember hearing J.Cole on DJ Drama show on satellite radio and it was Cole's birthday. He didn't even sound happy or excited and he was on the road at the time. He talked about how he's on the road like 300 days a year constantly touring and he just sounded tired. These guys gotta pay that money back one way or another, record deals today are just horrible. Unless you like Jayz who signed with Live Nation a huge company. Jay started doing a lot more international shows once he signed with live nation because it opened up new doors and he had ton of money to pay back.Yeah but producers are automatically credited as writers now.

that's not entirely true.. or always the case i should saywhy is your rep so fukked up? I remember hearing J.Cole on DJ Drama show on satellite radio and it was Cole's birthday. it is what it is...doesn't bother me some nikkas on here think that shyt means something. shyt doesnt effect my life or my bank account. nikkas got real world problems to deal with. Some of these cats go to bed knowing their coli cash and rep that's not entirely true.. or always the case i should say
with a 360 the pro is, they don't care if you sell a lot of records.. they continue to throw them out, even if you only do 100k.. someone selling 100-200k is good to them as long as they can pack a house and sell products.. where they'd use to drop you
the con of course... they get paid off EVERYTHING... they are getting paid off your shows and merch, which you selling at these shows anyway. they are using favors to get your song in tv and movies and commercials, cause they get a piece of that.. oh YOU in a commercial or becoming a spokesman, yea they getting that too..
there is no side hustle.. cause they putting you in these situations, just so they get a piece.. there's a reason jay-z signed with live and he suddenly doing international shows.. he's suddenly all over tv.. he's suddenly endorsing all sorts of products.. doing out of this world shyt
back with a regular deal.. you'd take all the shows cause they couldn't touch that.. or merch.. you get a reebok deal, they ain't touching that... you get a part in a movie, they ain't touching that... but you had to get it on your own
people didn't do that many shows cause they couldn't make that many deals on their own. now the label is invested in getting you money... the problem with back in the day was... you didn't sell any records, the label had zero incentive to have you there... and if you wasn't signed, nobody was booking you for no show
thats my girltyga has always been on the outside since he didn't let cortez handle mgmt duties he always had his own mgmt without any of the orig cmb goonies handling paperwork
thats why he been treated like that .. and it aint by chance he started branding last kaangs early - things are just comin home to roost now since ymcmb know he got a dope project wit kanye on board
