I have no idea why I listen to this podcast. I havent enjoyed it in a while, and this might be a nail in the coffin for me.

I could spend that hour or so meditating, volunteering with children, or sitting down staring at the wall.

Anything is more productive than this

I don't think I've ever seen someone misjudge an artist worse than Budden did Drake.

He's talking like Drake was supposed to be the new....I don't even know who. A hell of a lot more than what he obviously is. I guess more in the vein of Jay, Nas, Pac, etc. Why he thought that, based on Drake's content and discography....who the fukk knows?

Budden sounds like he just found out Santa Claus ain't real. It's a year after the QM shyt and Budden is talking about Drake was supposed to move the culture forward and be a hip-hop icon with "Views", like he's Rakim or some shyt. :what:

Fred.

Minus the incessant screaming, I get what Budden is saying. Because as a fan of both, I see it as Budden is watching himself playing chess with Hov. Let's say you entertain the Hov conspiracy. Considering Budden and Drake's similarities (at his heart of hearts, Drake is a product of Phonte/Ye versatility, Joe Budden introspection/moods, Jay-Z/Pusha charisma now...not priort to Take Care), Budden is watching what would have happened between him and Hov had Budden's career took off.

Like Drake, Budden's favorite rapper and the one he wanted to be like at the time was Hov (and Em...but he modeled himself after Hov in some areas). Granted he never got the look or appreciation Drake got from Jigga...at some degree Hov fukked with him (almost signed off on son going to the Roc). the "Pump It Up" shyt was very instrumental too. Hov thought he got the best of Joe, then Joe came back a week later and smashed it, down to even flipping the same basketball references. next thing you know...he gets blackballed.

I think Joe Budden is seeing Hov trying to do the same shyt to Drake right now...that He did to budden...but Hov can't cuz of where Drake is at now...so its taking a different direction.

Joe is being hard on Drake because Joe sees himself in Drake
mainly because Drake got his style from Joe Budden

Joe has been on record plenty of times admitting hes a huge Drake stan
I haven't gotten finished with this podcast (Rant) but mainly what Im hearing is
Joe wants Drake to reach heights in his career that he (Joe) wish that he
tcould've done during his tenured on Def Jam.

This.

When drake first came out, i thought "this nikka is a vocal hybrid of kanye and wayne but his "introspective" style is a bite off joe budden"

It was actually gratifying to hear joe compare himself to drake and publicly admit their similarities on this front :leon:

His whole point without saying it is Drake can do what he wants because of where he is positioned and he's not doing anything with that position to help hip-hop move forward :manny:

He's kinda right. Streaming will kill off the rest of what was left. There's not going to be anymore creativity in the mainstream. Someone like Drake could start doing more and in turn it would trickle down to smaller acts etc. etc.. but Drake has never been about that.
but the reason he's disappointed is because Drake has always been about creativity and Views (in Joe's opinion) has shown he's gotten complacent. A guy in Drake's position never needed to drop a track like 5 AM in Toronto full of straight up bars.

Joe right and he opened my eyes to what the music industry is all about.

Drake is not talking about females half the time in his song on views he talking about himself. Like Joe said some ppl have a better ear for finding this kinda stuff. Joe very much like me a over thinker that why I see where he coming from but y'all just call him crazy.........
they dont even bother to try to see his pov just judge him smh
