what i meant was, what was evil about what the man was saying? those people who lost their jobs are going to have to find employment elsewhere, aren't they? that's the reality.

i don't work in manufacturing, so i wouldn't know, but from what i know most govt jobs pay more.

my point was that the loss and gain of jobs, of different types of jobs - blue collar vs. white collar - are part and parcel of changes every economy in the world goes through. there's nothing particularly "evil" about it. i said it was ugly, because to me people losing any kinda job is ugly, especially when you're talking about adults with families and adult responsibilities.

It's evil if those manufacturing jobs don't pay to the living standards.

That's why I asked, will manufacturing jobs pay well? Most decent government jobs pay 6 figures. Can you expect a 6 figure salary at a manufacturing gig?

Is it any less evil that many of those working in manufacturing now are in jobs that don't pay a living wage? That they have to get off working 10 and 12 hour shifts and then go Doordash or Uber for a couple more hours 3 or 4 days a week? My best friend has a degree in mathematics, a full time job teaching, and works a part time job at the airport 4 nights a week. To me that's evil and unfair.

This society as a whole is evil, especially to Black people. Which is why it's really something to see you all carry on the way some of you do, like you didn't know this or figured nothing like this would ever happen.
