This is very true, I have a friend who applied to the top tech companies and they couldn't make it past the physical interview. They liked them over the phone because they didn't have a voice that could determine if they were black or not. However when they went to the real interview they didn't call back. Too chocolate for technology brehs.
Maybe he didn't perform well....just a thought:yeshrug:

Im working towards a degree but i work in IT making roughly 30k. First IT job so it is what it is

yeah i def have my own agenda, the agenda is to increase the number of black stem graduates, without relying on diversity programs and affirmitave action
What? How else would minorities get a fair shot in the job market? I mean seriously, how the hell would they?

Breh, the untold story is some of those companies go to the NSBE conferences just to save face. They don't plan to really hire any Black folks. Lockheed, Boeing and those types are the exceptions for the reasons other have mentioned. But, Microsoft, Google, Apple, Facebook, etc. aren't really interested in NSBE conferences. They'd rather grab a nikka from Stanford, Berkeley, UCLA, and call it a day.

That is true and why once again I specifically said defense companies. They are forced to hire blacks. Garbage ass Facebook, Apple and the rest are not. But throughout history government jobs are the reason there is even a black middle class. There are tons of black engineers out here. These commercial companies just refuse to hire them.

Thanks for that tag :sas2:My degrees must not be worth much since my university is paying me over 100K per year to go to school, publish whatever I want, and go wherever I want...guess I lost though huh :wow:

What? How else would minorities get a fair shot in the job market? I mean seriously, how the hell would they?

it starts be changing the culture and redefining what it means to be black, there a lot of exceptions but generally speaking black people have a culture that doesnt encourage academics, its not part of our identity

so that is the first thing, personally i would suggest destroying the public system and starting from scratch with charters schools and vouchers

the second thing is focusing on small business and entrepreneurialism

focusing on those two things would solve the issueo fblack unemployement, and those two things can be addressed without white people

When you have white racist or "indifferist" people in the role of hiring minorities, nothing will change. Im not talking about how we come up bro, im talking sttictly about black people getting hired WITHOUT AA. You do realize why it was created? Nothing has changed. If it werent for that, youd have a plethora of talented people who literally are being held back because of the colors of their skin. Makes me sick just thinking about how comfortable these people have gotten in this system of oppression.

AA is worthless, the only real way to force whites to hire blacks is if blacks show superior skills, if we want more black engineers hired then we have to find a way to produce the best engineers in the world, but i would not agree that our main goal should be to hired to whites, i think that is not the proper way to look at it and i dont even care about stories like this, i think they are irrelevant

i think there is a lot of racism all over corporate america but the changes have to be made in black america, black people have to develop economical and academically before you really attack corporate america

I agree, breh. AA culture celebrates ignorance too much for us to produce tons of scientists and engineers. We have a culture of low expectations.

No because they are currently contracting and pretty much picking up everyone's slack. Are you a Cac? Because any black person would understand that job searching is never fair for black people.

As an engineer this is nothing new. That is why defense contractors are the top hirers of black engineers. No surprise if it wasn't for government, city jobs, education jobs and manufacturing jobs such as automotive there would have never been a black middle class.

One more thing. Lockheed Martin is the number 1 employer of black engineers in the country. Now let that sink in.

A lot of people dont realize how much impact the government and states have on the educated black middle class. Most of those govt contracts come with stipulations requiring the companies that win them to hire minorities and have robust diversity programs. If it wasn't for that they would look all white just like these tech companies do now.
