Breh, the untold story is some of those companies go to the NSBE conferences just to save face. They don't plan to really hire any Black folks. Lockheed, Boeing and those types are the exceptions for the reasons other have mentioned. But, Microsoft, Google, Apple, Facebook, etc. aren't really interested in NSBE conferences. They'd rather grab a nikka from Stanford, Berkeley, UCLA, and call it a day.

i dont think its the companies, i think the number of resumes that google, apple type companies get from black engineers is miniscule and the black populations of cali and washington state is miniscule relative to other groups

i think if black engineers were facing discrimination in SV that would be an improvement, right now there are no black engineers to discriminate against

Until companies have quotas for BLACK employees, Indians and White women will be used to fill the minority gaps

resorting to quotas, affirmative action and other "diversity" initiatives just shows the intellectual dead end civil rights has come to

basically black people dont know what to do so we go around trying to tell white people that they should do this and do that, that will inevitably lead to a intellectual and economic dead end because all that will happen is eric Schmidt and tim cook will throw a few bones at us, send a rep to an nsbe conference, give some money to a black school and black people will be in the same position

but bottom line is that if we want more black engineers its black people that need to change, black culture is not geared toward creating engineers, black culture is too anti academic

even then the "black scholars" tend to avoid STEM like the plague and go to some stupid Liberal Arts program that isn't going to benefit us what so ever, they then end up getting into a ton of debt and can't find work.

Often times those folks are used as a foot in Asia and other countries. When it is time to move plants, implement projects or manage workers in these areas these folks will be used. Also they are often times willing to work for less. They can hire a bunch of Indians and Asians with degrees and pay them 30k instead of paying Tyrone and Tracy 60k. Why do you think a defense company will come in and hire a whole graduating class at Jackson St. Well they need to keep that big government contract and so they need black candidates and employees. I have worked in commercial and defense and both groups of minories are being used for an end result. Because at the end of the day the folks in charge look nothing like the minorities.

They also put each other on.. There is no reason my dept should be 99% Indians and all of our offshore is 100% Indians.

:mjlol:
lol pretty much, I notice Morehouse and Spelman folks brag about how so many of them end up at Harvard for Grad school when in reality Harvard just posts up and recruits there to hit diversity quotas

these the same cats bragging about going to Harvard divinity school :mjlol:

this shyt is such a hidden point that tons of people overlook :dead:

Liberal Arts graduate programs are fairly easy to get into. Demand isn't ridiculously high for those programs, so the schools aren't as selective. They want the money! It's still a business at the end of the day. MBA, JD and MD programs, on the other hand, have great demand, so Harvard can be more selective and play different tricks to market itself in the marketplace.

Harvard could admit more Blacks to its MBA, JD and MD programs, but it would come at the expense of its average GMAT, LSAT and MCAT scores. It's marketability against Stanford, Penn, etc. would take a hit. Which is why you don't see as many Black folks in the more competitive programs at Harvard. A Black person with the right numbers GPA/GMAT/LSAT/MCAT is basically a shoe-in at Harvard, as the school gets to maintain its average marketability metrics while increasing its diversity numbers.

While we talking, Law degrees aint sh*T either.

We need Liberal Arts scholars but when you go on your avg campus and cats say "mane major in communications, that joint is easy son" theres a problem. Then you have all these ignorant parents egging their kids on because Jerome is going to be the first in the fam to get a degree. Liberal Arts degrees for HBCU grads are essentially Call Center degrees because thats where most these folks end up working

A leave breh alone, we need people to be educated in that subject matter:ufdup:

I almost majored in History too :to:
But even my professor was like :whoa: :whoa: :whoa: don't do it....
I don't shyt on history majors. Not at all. That shyt is important...but sometimes these cocky dudes don't really understand the autonomy (and ultimately value thats created) that STEM grants compared to just pontificating and crafting theories to be argued over in coffee shops.
