articles like this are made to perpetuate a way of thinking that black people cant rise without help from other people and create a situation where instead of black people sitting around and talking about what we are going to do to fix the and control the problem, we sit around talking about what other people need to do, in other words we are putting our future in other people's hands

throwing crumbs at black people through pressuring corporations to hire a few black people will do nothing over the long run
and this is also why I say there is a real realm for black republicans in the US (i'm not one) but the sentiment is definitely there

Bruh ... the demand for Jobs Information Technology is huge.

Healthcare, Finance, Gov't, Automotive etc ... there are jobs in IT in all them.

If your stuck in life with a deadend up and want to make paper, get them certs ... You might not like the work but at least you'll get paid.

Thats just some random guy I pulled up, looking for Goldman Sachs IT Department.

Goldman Sachs isn't a tech firm; it's a financial firm. Moreover one man doesn't prove that minorities are more represented in NYC than anywhere else. I agree with you that getting certs and education = automatically a great salary.

a lot of these companies in Silicon Valley still depend on the old boys network for hiring which is really just a cop out for not getting serious about diversity. historically blacks were shut out of those networks and they know this. if they really wanted to hire more blacks they know where to get them. You mean to tell me they can go all the way to india and hire but they cant go to an hbcu here in the US?

Its funny because select HBCUs like Howard, Morehouse and Spelman get better job opps than many other schools for minorities since they're known as top crop minority institutions. :heh:

if black people want to work on in SV then black people would have to move to SV and start attending the schools the feed SV, the onus is on black people not the corporations

and all those companies are extremely diverse, there are people from all over the world working at these companies

No way in hell I'm traveling to Montana or some isolated area for employment.

Only 10% of college graduates are black and hispanics, and i'm sure a very small % of that 10% studied computer science or engineering. However, I doubt that's because minorities are not generally interested in STEM, but instead because they are not engaged or encouraged to study hard ass shyt like STEM in this systematically oppressed education system. Unfortunately, that is how the tech companies will defend and argue why they cannot find high-achieving minorities, even though they are out there.

How about having more tolerant professors that are passionate for teaching? Or make the learning material more hands-on?

Naw. Companies are responsible for their hiring practices and maintaining a diverse workplace. publicly traded companies have more of a responsibility.

There has to be less of a focus on entertainment as a means of generating wealth and autonomy in the black community.

Essentially 95% of black millionaires in this country is in entertainment.

99.9%

When you say the article is "dumb", you really mean that its violating your belief system so therefore you're mindlessly attacking it.

The fact of the matter is that employment rates for people of color at tech companies are lacking, and lagging behind graduation rates in these fields, and there is SIGNIFICANT data to support this. Studies have shown that black engineering grads have an unemployment rate over 10%, and an underemployment rate of over 30%.

Articles like these are combating the racial idea that black and brown folks arent pursuing stem/engineering degrees at an acceptable enough frequency, which somehow explains their low rate of employment. It reminds me of how there was this prevailing idea that black people didnt have the mental ability to play QB in the NFL, and it took significant outside pressure to force organizations and coaches to stop discriminating against blacks and give them a shot.

Its obvious these companies dont have faith it in hiring certain people over others, and Im amazed someone who claims to be black like yourself would take issue with encouraging companies to give blacks and hispanics an opportunity.


these companies don't want us in their infrastructure.
all because once in it we sooner or later assimilate to leadership in their firms.
which, is actually built on track record and actual profits.
they don't want to be perceived as aall black like mcdonald's or coca cola.
which, they know will happen because black people proved we were the best in the corporate world from the 80's to 2ooo.
which was all a discovery zone to eventually use applied knowledge to keep us from prosperity.

only time they will use us, now.
is to stimulate growth once they have used up all their low quality parlor tricks.

which probably won't happen anymore, because they have trimmed payroll and are living in fake profits.
so, they don't have to pander or hire anyone who is black anymore, to aid them.

as they have all the knowledge they need and are applying it, now.

companies are responsible for making sure they dont discriminate but diversity is a word black people should stay away from, in practice it just means throwing a few bones at black people
