So what's the point of telling him Italians are racist? There are racists everywhere so what?

Never been to Japan ... it's on my high priority list ... but have been to Italy several times. If you are into art - go, if you are into exquisite food - go. I reccomend Verona, Venice, Milan and Rome. Venice is my favorite once you get in a semi seculeded spot away from a lot of the tourists. The language is not much of a barrrier because (like a lot of Europe) most people are willing to speak English once they see you are not from there ...

or I heard you can get sick eating random foods while traveling
I heard you going to be in long lines at the airport
I heard (insert random country) has a lot of hoes and are freaky

Italy, Venice in particular. If you plan to be there about 7 days, rent a car (usually stick) and spend a couple days driving. You can see Pisa and Florence. Or, plan your trip around Oktoberfest (late Sep), spend a few days in Venice, and take the easy train ride to Munich for Oktoberfest for a couple days. With Japan, you need a day or so to get over jet lag, and then figure out how to get around if you don't have a guide.

Do you live in Italy breh? I know a whole ton of Italians who love their country but would never understand why any black person would fathom wanting to go there. They themselves understand the place is racist af this isn't news to even them . Now racial tensions are not exactly perfect in the rest of the world but that doesn't mean it's equal. If you stay in the touristy places in any country it won't make a difference what part of the world you go but if you roam and really see the place there is likely a higher chance of experiencing bigoted responses to you there vs. another country. That doesn't stop anyone from traveling but it makes them aware.

Go to sicily or southern italy. they arent racist there like the northern parts.
sicily is very accepting. just stay away from the pale areas of sicily

Im actually trying to plan a trip to Japan for this summer with the family. If anyone has any ideas on places to go and such it would be greatly appreciated.

Thinking of spending a few days in Kyoto, and Tokyo. Perhaps hit up Osaka?

Depends on the type of person you are. I normally keep myself feeling semi tired my entire travel day so when I hit that final plane ride I'm comatose.
Plus from my experience, long ass flights like that aren't filled to the brim like regular commercial flights, so if you're the type that can entertain yourself (In this day and age everybody should have a smartphone/tablet and a portable battery charger if you can't get lost in a good book or a few albums) or sleep relatively easy you can find a whole row of seats for yourself, stretch out and read or sleep as opposed to having to be mindful of people next to you and their drama.

My flight from Florida to Barcelona went by quicker than I thought once I was allowed to put my feet up and just stretch out, not having to hear shyt, do shyt or talk to anyone.
