Gifted and TAAN were both better IMO, but these last two
For me it’s Ambition > Gifted >>>> TAAN.
Gifted had higher highs (88, Guillable etc) than Ambition but I think front to back Ambition is a better project.
TAAN didn’t really hit with me like that.
Ambition was also Wale’s first release underneath MMG. MMG during that period was a movement so the hype around the album was huge.
Might also be nostalgia for me as well

This has been the story of Wales career. Ambition could’ve had Barry Sanders and Tats on my arm. There was heat on Festivus that should’ve been on TAAN.

Know Me, Reminisce, New Phone and Illuminate somehow didn’t make SHiNE.
I think his problem is overthinking the theme. He records way too many tracks and has to leave too much on the cutting board. He said he picked 15 of 46 tracks for this and left the other 31 in the vault. Can you imagine him picking through songs with his ocd self, must be a nightmare process. You don’t have to have every verse of every track fit the theme. That’s what causes every track to feel the same. Just touch on the theme here and there throughout the project so it’ll have different vibes. Sometime you just gotta bar these tracks up with high energy. I’m not saying he shouldn’t make relationship tracks, because they get you paid and women will go to concerts, but the male base in hip-hop is what makes rappers legends. And it seems like that’s his main frustration.
Wale is a rappers rapper and he will always eat. He's not back or gone ever. He is always here.
Hate on breh. Very few rappers can eclipse "relevance" by being skilled and relatable. It takes some real talent. I don't care how obnoxious he is as a person. I'm here for the art.
