you can forget about females even being in the mood.

granted r Kelly is a pedo.
jodeci is not prominent.

Wait is that REALLY what happened:picard:

Yea man. Nokio said on the unsung that they change their shows to accommodate Jazz because he could no longer do the choreography to songs like "tell me". He also got addicted to alcohol or drugs, they didn't mention which and he spent time in and out of rehabs.

That's not what I'm saying. I'm talking about the notion that Jodeci has NO classics, but in the same breath saying Dru Hill does.

jodeci was more of a singles group.

they never made any albums that you can jam from front-to-back. never even came close. hence the reason for the overrated comments.

and yes, dru hill's 1st album >>>>>> any jodeci tape
and while we're on jagged edge; JE Heartbreak >>> any jodeci album

112 and Jagged Edge not doing enough to surpass Dru Hill is all opinion.

Nobody is going to say Mint Condition or Silk surpassed Jodeci because neither group surpassed Jodeci. Jodeci had THREE huge albums in the 90's. Classic on top of classic with people still saying "wooh yeah" decades later. That's not mentioning what came from Jodeci. Jodeci's impact and influence far exceeds Mont Condition and Silk to the point where groups like 112 and Jagged Edge are testament to Jodeci's impact and influence and that doesn't even scratch the surface.

everything you said regarding jodeci in comparison to say a mint condition or silk, you can make that same exact argument for dru hill and the fact that they were far more polarizing than 112, jagged edge, next, etc.

I don't see any traces of jodeci in 112 at all. hell, i'd bet good money that they were more influenced by Silk actually, since you mentioned them. maybe mint condition too. DEFINITEY tony toni tone.

theres a grip of groups who seem to have just as much influence on jagged edge as jodeci. also, JE & jodeci arent even similar sonically or vocally. you can point to the image, but that really started with BBD, and we already know JE openly stanned new edition. chit, i hear more h-town & eric roberson in them than jodeci.

black is just as good as a singer as jazz.

HELL TO THE NAW.:camby:

"Tell Me" off the Rush Hour Soundtrack put them on the map commercially....

:stop:

FLAG ON THE PLAY.

youre WAY off.

Dru Hill was miles better than JE or 112. They could sing circles around those groups. The main thing JE and 112 benefited from was that Jermaine Dupri and Puffy guided their careers at a time when they both had really hot labels. Dru Hill was pure talent

yea.

I kept saying that 112 without the bad boy stimulus = LeDae
I think I never got a response out of the people who disagree with me. because they prolly don't know and/or don't remember LeDae.

and jagged edge is my favorite group from the late '90s/early '00s class, but im not gonna pretend that they didn't benefit from the so so def stimulus to a degree.

This post is full of false statements.

1) No Dru Hill album is held in as high regard as the three albums Jodeci dropped in the '90's. Dru Hill fits the bill as more of a singles group than Jodeci. Hands down Forever My Lady and Diary of Mad Band at least are classic. The whole notion that Jodeci is a singles group is a narrative you ONLY see on The Booth.

2) That whole stimulus talk is BS. 112 were Bad Boy artists. They were on the label and one of the biggest acts on the label. Same goes for Jagged Edge on So So Def. That same move you're pushing with this stimulus argument applies to Dru Hill and ANY act signed to a successful label.

All the other BS in that post isn't even worth addressing and breh why are you harping on LeDae. All you're doing with that example is trying to establish that 112 and Jagged Edge wouldn't be anywhere near successful without Bad Boy or So So Def, which is false.

Kelly got some catchy ass hits and just other songs in general are legit.

AZ Yet just got two songs I like.

Vanessa Carlton got a few catchy ass songs...been catching up on pandora. Lol.

who is AZ?

Listen, I am/was a huge Dru Hill fan. But here's what happened....

Dru Hill was making REAL music without question. Parents and grandparents co signed them and kids too. They had talent, great writing, great vocals...undeniable. They were semi-pop stars but in a world of BSB, 98 degrees and NSync, they weren't exposed on that level as a boy band.

But when Sisqo went on his own, it was like he was a brand new artist in a new ocean. He was now in those full on pop star waters. Suddenly his hair went from being different but accepted, to it being seen as a joke. His dancing went from being cool to being seen as a joke. Suddenly now there were ppl calling him gay on the world stage. I mean it's kinda his fault bc he turned everything up to 10 trying to be a super performer. Unleash the Dragon was a really good rnb album...but the pop world had taken hold at that point so it didnt matter. And ppls hate of the Thong Song outshined that whole album. It's interesting bc they could have released Thong Song as Dru Hill and it would've been a different reaction I believe.

If he hadn't taken 3-4 yrs away from Dru Hill and became a laughing stock of pop music, maybe they drop another classic album as a group and cement their undoubted legacy.
There was no hate for the thong song what are you talking about

what hurt Sisqó is that there wasn’t another thong song

Not in real time

this is revisionist history

Dude ppl hated Sisqos dancing, the flips, the silver hair, the song premise.

Yes it was a pop smash, but that comes with haters.

I like it still bc at the end he displayed his signature vocals. But other ppl don't care about talent

Forever My Lady could be the GOAT 90s RnB album if they just cut it to 7 songs... after U&I, it’s :hhh:
Weak ass attempt at being Guy... their New Jack shyt wasn’t hittin. It’s classic because the singles were so great.
Diary, same issue... After 5 tracks, it’s ehhhhh
Then album 3 all them damn skits :snoop:

Dru first 2 albums ride all the way thru.

Still not saying I would put Dru over Jodeci by any means.
If you put Jodeci 12 best songs against Dru, it’s a easy win for Jodeci.

Cooleyhighharmony is the best group RnB album of the 90s.
