Finished Hotel Humans. This one was very solid. The individual assassin stories were good and while the Coleads impact on these storeis were good it was more subtle.

7/10 Good thing it got a 2nd season.

Finished Ruri Rocks I give it 7/10. Easily one of the best visuals of the year. The theme of finding a passion, finding your life, and loving it was done well. But the CGDCT's mineralogy aspect was poorly done. It felt like an exposition trip essentially. This felt like the equivalent of a professor putting up slides and telling you to study at home.

I just watched The Girl Who Leapt Through Time Imo solid film with good themes, though I feel execution could have been better. 7/10

This one was fun. The idea of what if you had the power to go back in time. I did like Makoto used this power in a way that I feel most people would use it. For the more trivial manners in life. School experience and love basically.

The two big themes is this movie is about running from your problems and what about the people you left your problems about. Early on when Makoto gets her powers you can see the problems she avoids that there are other people getting affected by it. For instance in the EC the bullied student gets into the incident instead of her, which leads to him being bullied. Then throwing the fire extingusher at her, which Chiaki steps in to save her, but using time leap to save her. Which leads Yuri getting hurt, but leading her and Chiaki to start dating.

This combines when she avoids Chiaki as he tries to confess to her. Thus her pushing her problems lead to that and of course seeing that Makoto is hurt because Chiaki confessed to her, but that didn't actually happen. Really Makoto can only blame herself here. A similar situation occurs with Kosuke where when Kaho confesses to him and the girls speculate Kosuke likes Makoto. Again runs away from her problems by pushing Kaho and Kosuke to be together.

Of course this leads to those two almost dying and her as an idiot used her last leap charge on something dumb. Of course this is is when Chiaki reveals he is a time leaper too and he comes from the future. Essentially cleaning up Makoto's mess and saves Kosuke. Of course last charge is used so he can't go back home.

It's clear the guilt is pushed Makoto wanting Chiaki to get his last charge back, so he can back to his time. I do like the message of Makoto finally not running from her problems as the saying in the movie says on the chalkboard "Time waits for no one." Although it should have been shown more from Makoto taking the initative beyond helping Chiaki gaining his powers back

1) Subs vs Dubs?
# Team Subs.

But dubs get more people to watch anime, I love it.

I wish comic book movies got more people to read comic books
Same with Sci-Fic and Fantasy novels...I digress.

2) Kaiju No. 8, Episode 11 (of this season Fall 2025)

What's going on with my man's power levels?

Seems like he can't really "get it up" :dame: for some of these battles?

I'm assuming it's gonna be the standard "dig deep/never give up" that's the basic lesson of all shonen anime, but anyone think there's gonna be some subversion?

Additionally, this latest episode got reminds *me* of Evangelion.

Might have to check out Evangelion.... looks up my lane... :ehh:

It's one of the greats, 26 episodes? And like 4 movies....

I actually find it hard to recommend to folks that haven't seen a lot of anime. But when I saw it, I hadn't seen a lot of anime...lol
I like my shonen and sheinen anime. Probably cause Im trying to catch up on the type of shows I watched or wanted to watch when I was a kid, but couldn't grasp the underlying storylines.

I saw Eva in college, and I thought it was just another Voltron/Tranzor Z/"Robotech" type of show.

Big Robot vs Alien of the week.

And it's kinda of that, so there's plenty of action and good animation.

What makes it more compelling than the typical "GET IN THE ROBOT" show is all of the story between the characters, and some of the "lore"/"world building".

With some life experience behind me, the couple of episodes that I've revisited - I see it a lot differently now.

Finished up 2 seasonals.

  • First being Sword of the Demon Hunter: Kijin Gentosho. A lot of the times we have great animation hard carrying a mediocre story. (You can write a whole list of battle shounen that fulfill this.) While here we have the opposite. Of course you need a decent level of visuals so that it doesn't break immersion, and the anime for this did good enough. The story, character writing, and themes are legit 10/10. Themes circulating about "Do I want revenge?", "What is my purpose?" and "How to deal with the pain of loss?" were some, as there was a lot in this anime. Some of the fights outside of episode 19 just looked ugly. Overall, I would give it 8/10.
  • The other being Summer Pockets. This is from KEY, which is the same creator as Clannad. As it is a visual novel adaptation, it follows the route format that you see in many of these. Tbh the first routes were alright but felt mediocre for the main story, which is Shiroha & Umi's routes. You got some nice world-building in Ao's route that is important later on, but behind that, the routes for Ao, Kamome & Tsumugi just felt mediocre in the grand scheme. A big jump in quality in the second half starting with Shiroha's route. Some moments that really hit in the feels :mjcry:. It is really the first 3 routes and the bad fanservice comedy. I give it an 7/10, but this is one that is difficult to recommend in general. Like the 1st half is like 5/10, but the 2nd half is 9/10.
