Never seen this before, I miss when 1-off joints actually got a promotion push

I didn't expect to like Kaiju no. 8 more than I have. :ehh:

2nd season breezed through with the quickness. Ended on a cliffhanger.
Also enjoy that they're getting straight to the point and not dragging everything out for an extra 3 seasons

I was seeing that Shounen Jump is kinda in a dangerous place right now tho :patrice: they don't have a real big 3 holding it down anymore, and they aren't timing the animes properly so that they help boost the manga sales

Like Kaiju no. 8 is over already, had they started the anime earlier the manga sales would've done better.

Yeah, what hit shonen do they have that's currently on the WSJ besides Dandadan and Sakamoto Days? and I know both are really popular but it doesn't seem like they can carry the whole thing.

I know Kagubarachi is actually doing quite well so that's obviously gonna be Shuesha's next big target for a hit anime soon. It feels like they need at least another series with that kind of potential to boost it up. I have no idea what else they have for the magazine. They have more heavy hitters on Jump+ tbh.

Demon Slayer, JJK and CSM being so short (in CSM case, short run in the magazine before going to Jump+) fukked their whole schedule. In other eras they would still be eating with those three plus the other popular series.

I do wonder how much Shueisha needs WSJ to sell weekly nowadays, considering the new avenues they have with Jump+ plus the ridiculous amounts of manga volumes they sell from series that are already over (DS & JJK) and the films from basically every anime series they own doing a fukk ton of money.

I would guess it's a whole different ballgame compared to just 10 years ago.

I don't know how that anime/movie money is being broken with them :jbhmm: I do know they be hoeing the studios alot of times, you gotta buy shyt through specific channels for the money to go to the studios that made the show.

I remember studio trigger would let one of their employees run the twitch channel and he'd be on there talking all kinds of shyt :dead: it was chill cuz only like 200 ppl would pull up, he probably was saying shyt we weren't supposed to know about but his bosses didn't know English as well as him

saying he don't really give af about his job there too tough, legit wishing death on people who fukked him over in MMO's, just saying hella shyt a PR person shouldn't

"That's too gay" -Trigger PR man on hot springs :heh: i be forgettin how hard asians go agains that batty boi shyt

twitch.tv/studio_trigger

he'll drop some gems here and there but he's so fukking casual with how he talking this shyt is killing me :dead:
I knew I mentioned that shyt in here before :mjlol: I gotta tap in and see if he's still employed with them, breh was wild as fukk

Last video they posted seems more informative

This looks a lot better then I remember S1 looking like, which makes sense since Jigo shared the same production line as AoT and they delayed Jigo by a good amount too. :ehh:

Edit: Meant AoT

Dandadan isn't in WSJ, but at this point it sells more then CSM at this point.

As far as Weekly Shounen Jump goes it is in trouble because the only big seller is One Piece.

They do have Sakamoto Days, Blue Box, Kagurabachi & Ichi the Witch. Sakamoto & Blue Box really sell pretty well, but obviously not at the One Piece, JJK, MHA, etc. level. Blue Box got a boost from its anime, while Sakamoto didn't, which makes sense as its anime was pretty subpar.

Kagurabachi & Ichi the Witch are interesting. They have both sold well for newer series, and both just need the right adaptation to really launch them forward. Whether they enter the MHA, One Piece, JJK, etc. popularity level is left to be seen. But the magazine really needs these two series to be that level for them.

Oh shyt, had no clue Dandadan was on Jump+ :ohhh:

Now I'm even more curious as to how much does Shueshia needs WSJ to sell nowadays. Because Jump+, anime boost and volume sales might be the new winning formula for them.

Well, J+ is a digital magazine with more flexibility. (Can be biweekly or weekly with a break every x chapters like CSM and break weeks so mangaka can focus on drawing volume covers.)

A lot of the times veteran authors like Yasuki Tanaka with Ghost Fixers (Summertime Render mangaka) & Haruhisa Nakata with Night Light Hounds (Levius mangaka). It makes sense why you would want to deal with restrictions since your name is out there. (Although Kenta Shinohara & Yuusei Matsui both with 2 successful series beforehand, came back to WSJ. Witch Watch & Elusive Samurai are well planned, but don't really have broad appeal as it is series both want to write.)

WSJ still has much more exposure, but I feel like they're just having a lot more misses lately than before, and they haven't had a BIG hit like MHA, JJK or CSM.

Honestly, there are series with high potential lately, like Mamayuyu, Mixed Martial Arts Asumi & Tenmaku Cinema (Food Wars Mangaka), but all were axed prematurely. Tbh the magazine has been really impatient. Hell, Kagurabachi almost was prematurely axed too. They're getting more impatient for a new hit; honestly, it is a problem. It's also why there hasn't been a sports hit because those series need a good amount of time to set up. Akane-banshi is the closest to a sports series (more so in structure to a sports series, but Solo) the magazine has had, but obviously its appeal is more niche given its topic.

Caught up to two new shows.

The first being "The Fated Magical Princess: Who Made Me a Princess". This is based on a Manhwa that got adapted into a donghua. It is a regression story, as Princess Athanasia knows her fate that happens when she grows up later in life; at the start of the series, she is basically a child. Solid start and the visuals themselves are outstanding.

The 2nd being Yano-kun's Ordinary Days. This is basically a RomCom with the gimmick of a guy who always gets hurt and the girl wants to patch him up. Hard to tell if this gets gimmicky, but fun first episode. Sidecast looks fun, and it having what seems like an equal gender split among the cast is a plus. The visuals and animation style look nice coming from Ajia-do.

Sword of the Demon Hunter kinda fizzled out towards the end of the season. Had some real great episodes and then they'd have some real fukking boring episodes where the dialogue couldn't save it. nikka just walking around talking about life and shyt. Like fukk nikka slice something up already and stop moping a around. :russ:

7 outta 10 for me cuz when it delivered, it really did deliver, but just not enough sometimes.
