Honestly, Volgar is definitely one of the more interesting characters, along with Nora. He will do anything that he deems necessary in favor of Alek. For him smuggling gold, even if other British would have to be left behind. Still, him not killing the Loris immediately & being willing to sacrifice himself shows he is up for the cause of Austria. Him figuring out Sharp's gender and being able to use that to his advantage to help Alek shows he is more than cunning.

Overall, episode 6 was fantastic since it follows history, where it seems Germany plans to go against England. As Germany has aligned with the Ottoman Empire, it seems. Even to make things clear, we see the vessel with the lightning generator. Though know this has Alek wanting to help the British vessel that made him prisioner.

Though I did like Aleks wanting to help the people of the Ottoman Empire. The idea of the people who lived in this state being ruled by those outside feels dirty. I feel like this could be important for Aleks.

Aleks was self centered as hell :mjlol: shyt was stressing me out.

Volgar and Klop way better than me cuz I woulda lumped him up for completing ruining our plan of laying low, he refused to understand how armies work, doesn't matter if you helped them they still gotta do certain things if you're within arms reach of em

Sidebar: keep a close eye on the Made by Bilibili YouTube page for new Donghua, feels like every other month they putting episodes of brand new shows on there

im not rolling with shows only being "peak" or trash :camby: too many mid shows are sneaking into the peak category that way, i know yall see it
I'm kinda glad I'm too old to give a fukk about "peak" memes (and people trying to make legit arguments about it) because dear lawd are younger kinds obsessed with it. They do miss the yearly elite/classic anime that shows up because they too concerned arguing about the popular series they follow as the best thing ever :heh:

They skipping all over the place in Lord of Mysteries and adding in fights that never happened :skip: it is what it is I guess, they had a whole monster appear in episode 2 that didn't exist, it was supposed to just be a 3rd guy that Klein shoots.

they did way more rewriting than I expected. Half of this episode was supposed to be before episode 3 and the other half should've been around episode 7 or 8.

Never showed how Audrey even became a sequence 9 spectator, in the first meeting she had no idea how to get there, now she just magically is a beyonder already :skip:

They combined meetings 2 and 3 and didn't show what her or Alger were doing in the meantime.

They really put a gun to the studios head and told them they wanna see a flashy fight every episode :mjlol: nasty work.

But it was all worth it to see Susie talk at the end :laff: classic moment

I really like the addition of the Tanuki Orb in Yaiba. It has a lot of potential in both combat and comedy. Fun episode today.

This had the potential to easily be one of the best shows of the year. Sounds like they wanted to capture that Solo Leveling audience.

@tripleaamin Leviathan was dope :ehh: i want a second season but i have no idea plotwise how they pull it off

it's literally the events that started World War 1 except they split technology between the humans who went the mech route and humans who created genetically engineered animals to be used as tools

looks like they adapted the whole trilogy of novels in 12 episodes :francis:

I mean, tbh, 6 episodes in, they're handling it better than I would expect. Compared to, let say, Lord of Mysteries. I kind of wished this had as many episodes as Moonrise.

I will probably cop the trilogy of novels.

it's crazy how many people don't even know they're fanboying some mid :mjcry: brains fried off of basic isekai's to the point where they attacking peak shows for avoiding those generic tropes.

when i was working at an animation studio one of the dudes there said he watched anime too, i swear this nikka showed me like 4-5 of the WORST shows i have ever seen in my life, i can't even remember what they were called and i wondered how the hell he ever found them shyts, think of the worst anime you've seen, then make it an off brand store version..

i showed him Blue Lock and he said the animation blew the shows he watched out of the water...... just think about that :mjlol:

man if i had my old phone i'd link that bullshyt he was watching :wow:

Honestly, a lot of stuff that falls into the good, not great or even masterpiece category gets really overlooked. Overlord is an example of this. Some fantastic worldbuilding, and I love how dark it is. Though Ainz being too OP takes away from the potential.

Also, I have to add you don't have to reinvent the wheel to be great. Frieren & Mushoku Tensei are examples of this. Both are just series that are great executions of their respective genres, but there were tons of fantasy & isekai that came before.

Honestly, with MT, I see a lot of misinformation on why it is called the Grandfather of isekai. It is not called because it is one of the OG's because it is not.
The Familiar of Zero, & SAO are more so because those were written a decade before. Of course there is more if you get out of the typical light novel sphere. Hell, Konosuba and MT Web Novels came out at the same time. Konosuba IS THE isekai parody. Also worth pointing all the popular isekais now were written around the same time minus SAO.

It's called the Grandfather because it set the typical tropes that you see in modern isekai. The series defines the modern genre of isekai. 80% of modern isekai have a lazy checkbox. Borderline Mc, Harem of girls who love the MC unconditionally, etc. Sad part is the best stuff from MT does not carry over, but it is what it is :yeshrug:. It takes skill to write great worldbuilding buildup & a complex & concise magic system.

Nah leviathan is still good to the point I had no idea they condensed the story, imo that's how it should feel :whew: I can't hate.

Lord of Mysteries is gonna confuse anyone who's actually clocking all the details and why they don't add up, imo they've already passed the point of no return for some of the stuff they skipped, it's weird as hell and I feel bad for whoever had to take the plot apart and stitch it back together to make it make sense :sadcam: I do not want this to be the new norm for shows, being forced to make up fights is some bullshyt especially when the world building is interesting :why: ironically it feels like you damn near HAVE to read the novel in order to keep up with what's going on

In meeting 2, Audrey delivered some ingredients Alger needed to make his sequence 8 potion(that was their "deal" in episode 1 that they skipped :mjlol: ) so he told her how to make the sequence 9 potion for Spectator, Klein tells them something from the diary about how "acting the part" makes you grow the power faster, this is why he went to that fortune telling club to join it. They just have him blurt it out in episode 4 with no context. Alger was hype at this information because he was scared to take his potion without knowing what would happen, this is literally the key to not going crazy when you level up. Klein also notices he has dark stars on the Gray Fog table, and a 3rd one was there, hinting that he could bring even more people there once he figured out how.

All of this happens before the clown fight in ep 3, the first half of episode 4 would make way more sense if you saw these things go down.

Klein didn't even join the Beyonders officially yet :bryan: he initially took a civilian job, like that chick at the receptionist desk (her dad was a beyonder that went crazy and died) and then took the Seer potion afterwards, they just had him tag along on missions since they didn't have any seers
.

MT might be the goat isekai, that's why people call it the OG. I'm not mad at that after finishing it :ehh: everything happened that could possibly happen, shyt's gonna be crazy to witness

:russ: it's still a good read

i just refuse to let an animation studio put me in a blender just because they think i need to see action every 2 seconds to follow a plot

90% of the series is is a supernatural mystery regaeding what happened to Hikaru and what that thing that took over him. More gets added regarding the town and whatnot later on, which plays a big part. A big theme in the story is how one deals with someone when they die and what if they reappear in your life, like the case with Hikaru.

Now there is clear yaoi subtext in this story, and I normally don't read those series. It is a small part of the story. The horror and supernatural mystery part plays the big & main focus of the story. Obviously, if someone doesn't want to touch something with any signs of yaoi, then my suggestion is to avoid it. I read the first 5 volumes, and the only part that really weirded me out was when Yoshiki put his hand inside the fake Hikaru.

I guess the best way to put it is to compare it to Madoka Magic (since you watched that) because that series absolutely has a ton of yuri tones, and it is subtext. Especially when you look at the Rebellion movie. But Hikaru is a supernatural horror mystery, much like Madoka Magic is a psychological magical girl series.
