What is one topic in school that Americans should embrace to make them smarter?

Brooklyn keeps on taking it.
Statistics.

People hate this class with a passion and will try to avoid it as much as possible but will sit online and post a low IQ article from Wallet Hub and completely ignore the American census.

* the minor off count in the census is 100,000,000 more efficient than a website using a small sample size to post a story.

i believe if Americans had a more open minded approach to statistics they could literally see through many of the BS media news articles and press releases thats posted regularly on the internet and use ACTUAL STATISTICS to debunk them.

The New York Post for example posts untrue data regularly yet I see people often share their news freely without looking for sources as to where the stats came from.

So yea Statistics is one class that could greatly improve the IQ of Americans

Why not go straight to the source? Teach em some neuroscience:troll:

But in all honesty, i think any science would be fine. You are just trying to get them to think logically.

Keep in mind that many of the smartest professions don't actually require a statistics course for a degree, but they instead stress a wide battery of sciences. For example during undergrad, none of engineering majors on my side of campus had stats as a required course, they skipped straight over it. And these were your chemical, nuclear, computer, and electrical engineers. Neither did the chemistry or bio programs.

I have an BA and even I think if we want to continue to lead the world we need to put every able bodied child into STEM. The ones that falter separate them completely into arts schools centered around only that or trade schools if they are only good with their hands. Instead of a 1 size fits all school we need to break it up into 3 different very distinct pathways/schools.

I worry that this would lead to a dystopian future where white children and Asians are overwhelmingly sent to the STEM route, while black people are relegated to the arts or trade castes. :francis:

The blanket model of education gives everyone access to that stem info they may need in life.
