Jay was in his late 20's when he broke through despite being younger when he rhymed with Jaz-O.

Kane and them debuted in the 80's and had albums that were already over 6 years old by 1994.

@Wacky D was talking about how 2Pac was considered old, which is what I was getting at. How is Pac old by 1994?

why do you make everything into a rocket science project?? what don't you understand??

and I never said 2pac was considered old, you idiot.

In 94 he wasn't considered old but in 96 when he was 25 he was getting to that point

Thank you. This is what I was getting at. I don't agree that he was getting there by 1996 because he peaked artistically in 1995 and commercially in 1996.

25 was still considered old tho. Most rappers were working a 9 to 5 by then

Cube
Most members of Wu were like 24-25 in 1994
Scarface was 24
Jay dropped Reasonable Doubt at age 27 and had been rapping since a teen

^^^ Who considered them old?

In 96 Cube was considered old:heh:

When nikkas found out how old some of the Wu members were we talked about how old they were. Jay being the age he was was definitely a topic of discussion. You forget how fast hip hop moved back then. By 94 Rakim was considered an old vet. By comparison when you look at cats like Drake and Kendrick they are still looked at as being relatively young. Even tho they been in the game for a decade

back then, 25 was relatively old for a rapper breh.

Saying rappers didn't make it to a 4th release is asinine especially sonce Pac saw a 4th release before reaching age 25.

ice cube was borderline old school by lethal injection. definitely old by '96.

@Art Barr already told you about wutang.
and even with their situation, their age still caught up with them relatively quick.

jay-z always got clowned for that.

this goes back to the LOX thread, where you thought mobb deep was poppin like them in f**kin '99-00, and you argued me down for pages about it.

show me where I said 2pac was old.

and also, show the entire transcript and the reasoning behind that statement I made.

None of them were considered "old" in the sense that a '94 Rakim was considered old. Ra wasn't considered old because of his age, he was old because he had like four albums and one of them was nearing a decade old. Nobody was considering Wu, Jay, or even Scarface as old school rappers.

I don't even know what your arguing about at this point breh:wtf:

Nobody was calling the Wu, Jay, or Scarface old school rappers. They were old becuz they were in their mid 20s which was considered an old age for rappers at the time. Hip hop was still a young man's game

Cube had four albums by that point not including Straight Outta Compton or his EP.

And again, who was calling Wu Tang old in 1994 or in the 90's period.

Besides Nas obviously clowning Jay for his age in 2001 on "Ether" who was clowning on Jay for his age in the 90's.

This is nowhere near that bogus claim you made about Mobb Deep. Mobb Deep saw their biggest year in 1999. "Quiet Storm" was one of their biggest records.

ehh, scarface was never really a hot-topic type.

old & old school are two different things.

but if youre old in age while being new on the scene, it will catch up to you quick.

Breh, being mid 20's in the 90's was not considered old age for rappers. Not everybody in the game was dropping debuts at age 18-20 like Nas, Kast, or Bone. A lot of them were in their mid-20's or bordering on it.

Face being a hot topic is irrelevant. Entirely different argument. We're talking about age.

Yes, old and old school are two different things, which is what I'm getting at. 25 in the 90's was not considered old. Rakim, Kane, KRS were definitely old school rappers by 1994 because they had built an extensive catalog by then and their debuts were bordering on a decade. On top of that, the musical soundscape had changed so much that they were dated, hence why they were old. Nobody looked at their age and was like, "Oh, Rakim is still rhyming at 25? We off that, he's old". No, he was old because, the sound had moved on even though he was a part of influencing the evolution.

As for the last comment, this definitely wasn't the case.

no breh. Ether is the first time YOU heard someone bringing up his age.

quiet storm was their biggest radio hit, but mobb deep's heyday was already over.
the east coast landscape had already shifted twice over between their 3rd & 4th albums, and their style was VERY mid-90s-ish. quiet storm was like run dmc droppin "down with the king".
if you ever stepped foot on the streets in the east coast you would understand. but you never did, so youre really not qualified to argue about whats moving the needle up here. youre not even in tune with your own region like that.

I don't know what youre getting at with the ice cube comment.

wutang age was known. its one of the main reasons why they fell off so quick the minute they started losing some steam. DMX, 50 cent & master p are prime examples as well.

I said that because nobody bothered to respond to your mention of scarface, and you kept bringing him up. I'm just saving you time.

agreed, but if you started late, or in pac's case - peaked late, it usually catches up with you. DMX, wutang, master p, 50 cent.
