99% of flat earthers are Christians on a new crusade.

Also, white people aren't smart enough to concoct such an in depth global conspiracy. Calling it any variation of White science is giving them way too much credit.

last year i joined a flat earth facebook group just to lurk and see what they were saying.
a couple of weeks later i joined the convo and started asking questions.
now, i'm not a scientist but i have a layman's understanding of newtonian physics.

i quickly found myself being asked to explain away any number of things that support flat earth.
i was able to do so easily.
i was going back and forth with 4 or 5 of these flat heads for about an hour before they kicked me out.

straight up clowns.

Most people are not what I used to think was average.

Most people are actually D students.

So the C student would actually be above average.

The average people are not fully connected with the world of ideas and logic. They dip their toe in for utilitarian stuff but they are visitors to that mental realm.

If people can take religion as literal truth then why would ANY idea seem far fetched? That's what I mean, they already believe in the literal truth of talking snakes so nothing is that much of a stretch.

This focus on flat Earth reveals the biggest problem with people. Flat Earthers see what they think is a flat Earth when they look out the window, so that's as far as their imagination can take them.

Which is the same reason people do dumb shyt in the moment without considering the ramifications.

Unfortunately, I think some people lack the capacity to understand the invisible world of math and logic.

I'm just imagining going back to the 90s and telling my kid self what 2018 is like.

"Sorry, no flying cars yet. Nah, no space travel going on, nobody wants to pay for it. Matter of fact, a lot of people think the Earth is flat now and the moon landing was fake. Oh, and Donald Trump is the president."

From the center of the bell curve to one standard deviation to the right, you have people who are smart enough to question authority but too dumb to interpret the answers. (Jill Stein voters, conspiracy theorists, cryptocurrency pushers)

You gotta move like two full standard deviations to the right before all the idiotic white noise is drowned out by logic. These are the people who are both smart enough to find the truth, as well as being smart enough to know when they are not smart enough

Seriously, it's all over the Internet and it's starting to get annoying. Even if I go to TLR there seems to be like a 75% consensus that the Earth is flat and anybody who believes otherwise is a sheep. :dahell:

Are you a flat-Earther? More Americans than ever before are searching for the 'truth'

What's really good with this? Is it due to the Internet making it easy for people to spread dumb conspiracy theories? Are there just a bunch of people with nothing better to do than troll all day? Are people just stupider now than they used to be? Contrarianism? A psychological need for people to feel like their smarter than everyone else and have some special knowledge? Some kind of weird religious fundamentalism?

It's just hard for me to understand why some people in 2018 seems to legitimately believe this kind of dumb shyt. Or maybe the Earth really is flat and I'm the crazy one. :yeshrug:

Trolling and anti-intellectualism is now apart of American culture.

And it sucks.

Man the worst thing social media, not the internet, social media, ever fukking did was make it so everybody thinks they are a god damn expert on everything. shyt that dumb nikka in this thread that got bushed is a prime example of this. The ability to recognize your own limitations and accept that someone who is an expert and educated in that field knows more than you and some random fukking retard with a youtube channel should not be a preposterous idea that exists only in the realm of "CACS RULE THE WORLD" (while only being about 20% of the global population).

White supremacy is a real, tangible thing, that doesn't mean literally every single god damn mother fukking thing is the result of 'cac science' or whatever other dumb shyt comes from the mind of the mentally underdeveloped.

It's okay to admit you don't know something, I don't know a lot of shyt. But I do know that I don't trust the word of a god damn youtube scientist to be gospel.

Dunning–Kruger effect - Wikipedia

In short, the qualifications for being intelligent include the ability to recognize intelligence. What we term "smart dumb nikkas" on the Coli have a cognitive bias that renders them unable to recognize their own incompetence.

Example: the poster above. :hhh:
