All they need is a radio push. Not my fault you dont understand the influence of the radio lol.
I love to break it to you but the radio caters to the lables who get them to promote their street rappers. Those street rappers survive off of the exposure they get from the radio.
Again your failing to understand the power of the radio.
is this a serious question? I "heard" the music and songs everywhere, in cars, over peoples houses, in school
just saying I never sat down and listened to that bullshyt in its entirety
every song i heard was about murder, killing, drive by's, the dope game...
i'm wrong? there are conscious/spiritual tracks on this album?![]()
They blew up because the label chose them and put them on the radio.and thats all the "conscious" rappers need as well. so whats your point? youre not telling me anything that i dont already know breh.
most street rappers blow up BEFORE they get on the radio, unlike kendrick lamar & j.cole - 2 industry plants that you are championing as if they were chuck d & krs-one.
and i like how you conveniently ignored my other post.
They blew up because the label chose them and put them on the radio.
If labels dont chose you then you get nowhere until you go independant with Tech N9ne being an example.
You know nothing about underground rap thats why you fail to see the power of labels and the radio lol.

I know more than you thats for sure lol. Ive also noticed and tested the effects of radio influence on the people Ive met.this guy.
lol. YOU dont know the power of underground rap, judging from your previous posts.
i worked at a mom-n-pop shop, as well as promotions, btw.
like i said, youre not telling me anything i dont already know with your worthless rants.
AND YOURE STILL DUCKIN THAT POST I DROPPED. some of you guys are full of it.
I mean 90s street rap had the best production in the history of hiphop. Talib, Mos Def, Roots, J Live, Souls Of Mischief etc. etc. had amazing production

This isnt true.
Its been shown that they'll push anything that sells. Even if its "conscious" Most of these dudes just dont sound good
Y'all must be hella young or were in a coma for years at a time because Conscious Rap was huge in the early 2000's. Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Common, the Roots, Dead Prez etc. were all heavy on BET, radioplay back in 99'-04'. Conscious rappers like Mos Def and Dead Prez were scoring hits back then that competed with bling-bling era Cash Money. Basically, almost every rapper who was on the Chappelle Show musical guest list was dropping some classic conscious Hip Hop in the late 90's/early 2000's. Black Star debut album is a classic. The Roots Things Fall A Part is a classic. Mos Def Black on Both Sides is a classic. Kanye West College Dropout is a classic. Kanye had "All Falls Down" and "Jesus Walks" on the radio.Even seasoned legendary rappers like Nas took a more conscious stance on certain songs on God's Son and Streets Disciple. I'd say Conscious Rap in the mainstream died when all the alternative Neo-Soul/Nouveau Native Tongues era fizzled out and South mainstream Snap/Ringtone Rap took over and eventually gave way to Trap music.

thin line but i guess i'd give it to em
when i hear conscious i think more of dead prez/the roots
U obviously haven't heard a PE song in your life. If they aren't conscious idk who isWhen conscious rappers started spitting 5th grade philosophy and acting like their observations of the obvious made them some deep thinker, a real intellectual. See Hopsin for an example.

first off what's conscious? It seems like you have to make turn up or trap music these days in order to not be called "fake deep" or something along those lines.
I don't think conscious rap was ever cool.
The ppl that do it, Blackstar... Dead Prez... have little to show for it outside their niche. Unless you are conscious and also do other more marketable stuff like a Kanye, you are largely under the radar. People think Canibus only has two records.
They have never heard tracks like "Pay Me in Gold" (off of Fait Accompli) then wonder why he says shyt like
"I'm through giving advice. I just give concern."
"When you are ready to move to the mountains, it'll be too late to. And thats why I pray for you."
"The brand new lamborghini vans parked outside the FEMA camps... can't nobody change thier plans."
He'll rap a word like Rehypothication, and nikkas'll ask me sarcastically "What are you listening to?" like I'm stupid, instead of asking the better question "What does that mean?"

Its the peoples fault, not the artists.
