Lol our ancestors in America had latinized or anglicized African names so cacs could pronounce them better

the creolized and pidgin French names came later

This

A bunch of ignorant ass nikkas that make up names with no meaning because it sounds cutie. :snoop:

This shyt didn't start happening until the 1970s when the Black Father was replaced out of the family structure by government assistance.

There's nothing "Pro-Black" about this ignorant shyt.
I gotta disagree. Names like Brian, Dikembe, Jacob, James all were made up.
Every word we typed today were made up. Arbitrary collections of sounds words language were assigned to objects.

That is part of the reason why I have zero problem with Sharkeisha or Sarah.

Because it's easier to sell your kid dreams of societal standards than teach them to navigate outside the box. I think most black parents want to make things as easy as they can for their children and some believe assimilating through looks (short/permed hair vs natural), names, and lifestyle are the best ways.

I don't knock them for it. Merely existing as a black person can be difficult to navigate and again, some just try to make it as easy as possible.

Your point of Arab sounding names having history is kind of silly since African American history being so young

???

Some of our ancestors prior to the transatlantic slave trade had Muslim names because they were Muslim. They brought Islam with them to America when they were made slaves and continued incorporating Muslim names. The use of Muslim names goes beyond our 400 year history in this country.

Why aren’t you creating a foundation for your child where he doesn’t have to be dependent on someone else for a career/job in the future?

There’s a reason why Elon Musk gave his child an unpronounceable name, because he’ll be taking over his company, not sending out resumes when he graduates college. His name is peripheral to his future.
