Why are Justin Timberlake and Lady Gaga allowed to have massive flops and still get top billing?

Sure it is. "Confessions" moved more units and produced more hit singles. "No Strings Attached" may have gotten off to the quicker start with setting first week sales records, but "Confessions" ended up being the more successful album in the long run worldwide.

Usher was hands down the hottest star in music in 2004, while NSYNC had to take a backseat to Eminem and Britney Spears for hottest acts of 2000, making Usher's peak bigger than JT's. And none of JT's solo albums came close to reaching "Confessions" in album sales.

I know it's easy to say "it's because they're white!!" - not so fast. Popular white artists get dropped all the time, especially when they cost the labels money and they don't recoup...what's so special about these two? why are they being protected like they are?

my point was that the label spent top dollar to promote that mans album and it only sold 2 million copies - timberlake actually had 3 target ads to promote that album
