c00n shyt right here. smh. we made jazz and muhfukkas hating on it :hhh:

Not c00n shyt. Most black people are just learning we created rock. There’s so much black history we don’t know and I don’t fault “us” for not knowing.

but the jazz element is why a lot of white people like it. Not the content.

I don't think that's true, and even if it is it's no excuse.

I'd understand if folks didn't know we invented house music, because Frankie Knuckles is not well known at all. But Chuck Berry and Little Richard were pretty widely known.

We’re in this forum cause we love music so of course we know. But the average black persons couldn’t tell you that Ike Turner played a role in the creation of rock. Only he beat Tina. They could tell you who chuck and Richard are but they probably they don’t know they’re the architects

we have to stop belittling and start teaching.

I love it and think it's a masterpiece, but I get it if people don't warm to it. It's not the first album I put on when I want to listen to Kenny. But the wholesale effort that went into making art like it, music that goes above the fray instead of just following trends, I respect it immensely.
I thought it was just okay for like the year or two after it was released. Then a couple months ago decided to give it another spin and it just hit different to me. Now I think it's an amazing album. I got it as his fourth best but that speaks to how crazy his other albums are more than the quality of TPAB.

I think the second half of this album is better than the first half. The second have. Definitely a good album though. I know some people say he has classic albums. I don't know if I believe that personally.

People started really to hate on it after it started to get critical acclaim and rewards from different publications saying that Kendrick made it it for white people which is the stupidest thing I've ever heard to be said of a full on pro black album.

I still love it, I understand it don't slap production wise as much as GKMC and Damn... But it's great, How much a dollar cost is one of my favorite rap songs. These Walls, Blacker the Berry, Alright, Wesley Theory, Hood Politics are great. I think people didn't like the singles (king kunta, I) which I get and didn't like too much until I heard them in the context of the album. So I understand people who don't love it. But people who say it's a bad album? Don't get that

I don't think everyone, who doesn't praise this album, hates on it. Kendrick just did what rappers done did it in the 90s already. It's not that groundbreaking.

Kendrick can rap, but his vocals can't keep my attention for a longer listen. I can listen to artists like Q-Tip, Acey or Guru rapping over jazz sampled tracks. Like Kendrick he aight, but then I remember albums like the low end theory, book of human language, don't sweat the technique or daily operation (just to name a few) that are simply better. Kendrick is praised so high because he doing good quality music in the era of mediocrity.
