Why does CP3 continue to get a pass, but Melo gets fried on the regular?

cp3 was always compared to Deron who hasnt achieved any more than him teamwise while melo came into league compared to bron.

Until Sloan left, and exposed his lil' backstabbin', overrated bytchmade fakkit herb-havin' piss-colored, silver-spoon-fed, no heart-havin' diva ass for the fraud he really is :pacspit:

Because Chris Paul is arguably the greatest PG in NBA history. No PG in the game today is matching him in PER, AST%, STL%, TS%, TOV%, OTRG%, DTRG%, WS/48. Since the ABA-NBA merger, Paul has the highest PER, ORTG, and WS/48, 2nd in AST%, 4th in TS%, and 3rd in DRTG. Magic only has a higher TS%, and Isiah Thomas trails him in every category. Stocton ties him in 2 categories, beats him in 3, yet Stockton's TOV% is 56% higher. :whew: :whew: :whew:

Did you really just bring up a whole bunch of nerd stats, metrics, and analytics to this thread

1) Melo demands the ball a lot and often shoots at a low percentage. NBA press and the stat geeks hate that, particularly when coaches run iso sets for him

2) More often than not Melo appars lackadaisical on defense. Again, the press and the stat geeks don't like

3) He simply looks out of shape relative to other NBA superstars, which implies laziness

Paul is great but the media has been quick to give him a pass for his quick playoff exits. I think this will start to change if they don't make any noise next season after him possibly getting Del Negro fired.

Melo shoots near league average actually, which is somewhat impressive-and kind of disheartening as NY fan-considering how many 3's he shoots ( 6 a game at 38%, a % that is higher than the league average) and the number of contested shots he takes ( since we don't run any real offensive sets out there).

Our defensive rating wasn't too different with or without Melo in the line-up, which shows he's at least adequate on the defensive end, which is an improvement from last year. Not everybody can be a two way player, but the least you can ask is that your star player not hurt you on the defensive end and he did that this year. He does have his weaknesses still; his help defense isn't great because he just doesn't have great lateral quickness and he still struggles a bit to fight through screens, but he has his strengths too. he's actually a pretty good post defender relative to other front court players, but since it isn't much of a pound it in the post league anymore, we don't get to see it that much.

he's in decent shape relative to his counterparts, not great shape, but not poor either; Why does it have to be one extreme or the other? he may not be cut up or swole as fukk, but neither is Chris Paul, who I'd say is in similar shape. It's not fair to say anybody who plays at 36+ a game at a pretty high level throughout, is in poor shape or is lazy.

didn't want to derail, but your points were a bit off, even if they do reflect what some people like to believe:mjpls:

Naw, nice points in this rebuttal

I think Melo improved on all three points I mentioned in my post during the last season (and the press acknowledged it). But his rep developed over the last several years whe he was a defensive liability, did shoot too much and stop up the offense, etc

Melo may shoot league average, but he he does shoot a lower percentage than other superstar wings (Lebron, Durant, etc). And at times (especially during the Knicks last playoff series), he gets back into bad habits. His shooting percentage fell 40 basis points in the playoffs this year compared to the regular season. That's to be expected a bit as he is playing better teams but he shot near 40% in the playoffs, which is low

Again his defense improved this year, but compared to other superstars both today and historically. He can't be Lebron on D but some extra effort would help.

Had a 2-0 lead too. I thought he made everyone better? Where was it? Clippers had shooters all on the wings.
