Why doesn't Giannis get blame for the Bucks postseason failures since the 2021 NBA Finals?

How much blame should go to Giannis?

I'm gonna be optimisitc here -

Let's see if TheColi stops playing the blame game from now on. Let's see if they all can just enjoy hoops without shytting on players when they lose. Let's see how long it lasts.

No more Blame Game for 2025 and beyond.

The logic that "Player X didn't have the best roster, and played their asses off doing what they can, so it's not their fault" should apply to EVERYONE then.

:gucci: I don’t remember a time the Bucks lost a series and thought “they coulda won but Giannis didn’t step up “

nikka been injured and when is out there he be literally doing everything

Everything ain’t gotta be a blame game .
I agree with the bolded.

That said, I am a Giannis fan and his performance vs Jimmy in the bubble was embarrassing. 2 years ago, yeah he was hurt, but blowing double digits leads in the 4th and then running from the ball late in the deciding game. Last night, his team blew a lead late and he allowed a right handed player to go right for the gw layup. Now should it be Skip Bayless "Embrace Debate" on him? No. But we can still acknowledge his shortcomings and criticize him when its warranted.

It does apply to everyone. It just never applies to you know who cuz he has constantly switched teams to stack rosters.

This is the first post in here that's even attempted to be objective with the part he played in how last night's game unfolded -

And he was the one largely responsible for giving up the game-deciding bucket.

Obviously, he's not entirely to blame for what happend in OT, but it's strange to me how folks are quick to talk about how great his defense is, yet his team was the first to give up a lead that over 1000+ playoffs teams haven't given up before*, and then ultimately, he was the one who got torched on the game-winner.

That doesn't mean we need to re-write his legacy, but I'm sure we can have a constructive discourse on how he's to blame in that game.

I'm goint to take it that a whole lot of this board didn't watch that game last night, in real time, because that's really the only logical explanation I have for it.

Yes you are being totally objective by strictly focusing on Giannis' role in the loss while completely ignoring Gary Trent's two boneheaded turnovers that are the real reason it was even possible for Indy to be driving for a game winning layup.

Maybe you missed the part when I said -

"Obviously, he's not entirely to blame for what happend in OT."

Furthermore, this thread isn't about Trent Jnr, so why should we be focusing on him? More importantly, he isn't held to the same standard as Giannis is. Also, if you're going to put the spotlight on him for his two turnovers, then you've got to take into account he was the Bucks' leading scorer and the main reason why they went up 7+ points with under a minute to go.

Why focus on his two turnovers when he had 12 points in OT? Are they even in that position in the first place without those 12 points from him?

Are you really out here trying to deflect blame from Giannis onto a role player (who was one of the main reasons the Bucks were even in a position to win)?

And I must stress, I'm making a point around his defense, so if he was this great defensive player like y'all claim he is, how the hell isn't he to blame for giving up that lead?

Great defensive players make sure comebacks of that nature do not happen. And if they do let it happen, then they should be held accountable. If we perceived Giannis to be an average to good defender, depending on the day, then we wouldn't need hold him accountable because we'd expect that result.
