The SON of man is god. With SON meaning spirit.
I don't take Jesus of the bible literally when his entire appearance is full of parable,as well as he is even made to be very "ghost like". Seemingly hinting to the reader not to take it literally in my opinion. For me he either existed but was just a man who was a christ figure who held the christ conscience of his era. Or he was just the ideal of what the perfect example of the christ conscience would look like in that time. There probably was a figure or many figures like him in his day,just as there were some in our lifetime. Either way Jesus doesn't overstate his importance in the bible,Christians do. He essentially tells the people that they have the direct connect themselves as "ye are gods". I am a Christian I just not bound by the Jesus story,and I don't believe in heaven or hell as actual places as described.

I always wondered besides the SDA and Orthodoxy was why don't most Christians follow dietary law from the Old Testament. They continue to eat Pork, Crab, Lobster, and Shellfish. However, when homosexuality and premarital sex comes up they go back to the OT. Why is this? Do most Western Christians just pick and choose? Muslims follow Halal and Jews keep kosher.

- Jesus himself said its what we do/say that can defile us, not what we eat
- dietary laws and many of the other laws given to the Jewish people in the OT were meant to set them apart from the surrounding cultures and communities. Jesus during his time teaching and preaching taught that it was about following him whether Jew or Gentile and didn't force non Jews to adapt Jewish tradition to follow him. That'd be like the government immigrants to throw Independence Day parties

What non-Jews was in Jesus' crew? Jesus preached to the Jews. If others, converted, then he accepted them too.

Paul is the one who opened Christianity to the Gentiles.
