The one that went viral. When ole buddy was clowning dude about not being a bout that life and rapping about his dads life and saying "beloved" a lot.

Acapella pre-writtens just seems like a roast to me. I can't take too much away from it because it obviously takes a lot of skill to write some of this stuff, but it's not got the soul that freestyle battles over beats used to have. I know a lot of that scribble jam/ blaze battle stuff was pretty white washed but I think in general you got more "oh shyt" moments out of that format. Those cats could usually put out a decent record as well.

I actually watched it evolve.

I just prefer the talent of off the dome spontaneity rather than the pre-written battle rap with the theatrics.

Never did I say the shyt was not entertaining, yet I gave you the reasons why I didnt watch it.

I just used to hear stories and read the interviews bout Kurupt walking up on cats and battling.

Back then, video cameras weren't readily available to capture moments like today.

battle rap is the final frontier of hip hop. It is hip hop in its purest form.
It's not about record labels, it's not about who has the hottest producer, it's not about how many IG and Twitter followers a battle rapper has.



Biting and copying somebody's style is forbidden and heavily ground upon. Recycling is not allowed and heavily frowned upon. Battle rappers have no doubt the best pens, the most creativity and are able to perform on big stages.




So having said that, why don't you fukk with it?

I'm tired of it. I got into back in like 2001-2002. The industry behind it is corny too just like the music industry. Lots of politics and favoritism going on. In the top leagues you got these old heads that marked out years ago that are still around that need to sit they a$$ down. The gang bs that's going on in the sport is just sickening too. Surprised no one has gotten smoked at an event yet.
Battle rappers take lyrics from off the internet just like these industry rappers and some of them have ghostwriters to. I know this for a fact. Don't overrate their pen. Like I said before, there are only a hand few of Geniuses in the game, everyone else borrows from them.
