You know the definition of a food dessert tho right? If most of your food comes from a liquor store or a fast food joint you can easily become obese.

If folks cared about their health though they'd make dire sacrifices. Do you sit there and be overly obese and hope the government builds more grocery stores or be more selective? What would you do? Even fast food sell grilled chicken and steamed vegetables.


And that's not even talking about how we don't exercise. Because we definitely don't exercise. No excuses for that, even if it's 30 minutes of running the neighborhood. Or buying some cheap dumbbells. shyt, it's black dudes cut up right now purely off bodyweight exercise

I used to go to Certified Foods in a low income neighborhood and never got fatFood definitely wasn't fresh all the time, so I understand that point, but it ain't an excuse to be obese

Ok soooo ummmm what are the people who seem to have so much to say about obesity and overweight issues while dismissing the outliers - what are you doing about the situation? Do you grow your own fruit and vegetables? Do you own land on which to start your own fresh options to help people in less accessible communities? I mean, this has gone 8 pages and I have yet to see any proposals besides demeaning people for their dietary selections. What about school lunches? Because 75% of low income students are on food assistance. The schools feed them garbage - high in fillers, processed food and low in vitamins/nutritional value. That being said - if their parents can’t afford lunch then clearly they can’t bring food from home that’s already in limited supply. I mean there’s a whole rabbit hole that we can go down with this. And dude admitting that he doesn’t know what a food desert is should exit the discussion bc if you’re not applying science and historical context - then you’re doing nothing but being pretentious and blowing smoke.

Dudes acting like Wegmans, Whole Foods or Trader Joes, Panera Bread, Chopt Salad, Harris Teeter, is available on every corner in the hood. Talking about “bbbbuttt whitez people eatz the same thing...”

Like you can drive through any white neighborhood and there won’t be a McDonald’s or Wendy’s within a 100 mile radius- but there’s no such thing as food deserts or lack of access. Like everybody has a car /transportation or can afford to go on Amazon Fresh to have food delivered, if grocery delivery is even available in their neighborhood.

Uber eats is at least $40 minimum for 2 people. Those on restricted income can just up and order the vegetarian option from California Burrito at will “bbbuutt whitez people tho... “. Conveniently ignore the fact that obesity was considered a sign of high society and status among whites throughout history. Therefore all this comparison to what white people do is an invalid argument .

However, where we struggle is having healthy conversation about MENTAL health.
