This post is what I'm talking about... There is no formula or equation for soul music...... None

There is a formula. That one was just a basic formula for Soul at it's beginnings. It's basically black gospel (holiness and pentecostal style) music, secularized through Jazz and Blues chords/influences.

Gospel

to Soul

Yeah i've been noticing this trend more and more. Its not even like I'm saying you cant play her cuz she's white, but she doesn't even fit the genre.

The problem is, where does this end? If you have a radio station for a specific genre, and adjust to just play what's hot, you might as well just have it top 40, genreless :yeshrug:
Exactly. I was thinking the same thing about Sam Smith getting heavy play on Urban Stations. It was always awkward how you'd hear a song like Latch or Hello, and then hear "F up some Commas!!!", or hearing some Young Dolph afterwards.

Myself
Pop is a type of Genre so to say. It has a eurocentric "family" sound. It's a thing

If you can hear the difference between African inspired music then I don't understand how you can't see the other.

White people have they own thing too

Same reason why Eminem was able to get play on rock stations and rap stations when he came out. Ie Whiteness.

Black people who like adele are sad as fukk to me.
Black people who claim people like Sam Smith and Adele do black music better need to get the fukk out of my face. Or say they do real R&B.
Black women who worship Adele come off as pathetic to me...when Adele is basically ripping y'all off. Shows how much black people value whiteness over their own...everything.

I'd rep you but I'm out of rep. Just went on a neg train in some troll threads :whew:

She has a soulful voice, that's pretty much it. It's the same reason Sam Smith and Ed Sheeran got played. Hip Hop stations basically mean anything black people fukk with in 2016.

This thread has some of the dumbest fukking comments I've ever read.

If you told me right now that 'Sexual Healing" by Marvin Gaye was actually sung by a white guy in Ireland, do you honestly think I would stop listening to that song?

It's fukking music...who gives a shyt where it originated from or who is singing it...if it sounds good I am going to listen to it.

Yes. It's pop. Don't call it R&B.
Pop isn't a a genre
And yet pop stations dont extend the same courtesy to black singers:sas2:

pop stations = top 40 ie popular cuts, why would they play artists like tyrese who aren't charting, tyrese isn't getting play from urban format and the type of music he makes isn't even getting spins from what would normally be the audience for r&b. only a segment of black women 28-44 heard that album, bet. Black folks have abandoned traditional r&b to support the misogynistic thugged out drugged out bullshyt from these auto tune singing idiots...no way artists like tank, tyrese, sevyn streeter, faith evans, etc see a top 40 station in this current era. In the 80's-90's, r&b dominated the pop charts...
