This thread has some of the dumbest fukking comments I've ever read.

If you told me right now that 'Sexual Healing" by Marvin Gaye was actually sung by a white guy in Ireland, do you honestly think I would stop listening to that song?

It's fukking music...who gives a shyt where it originated from or who is singing it...if it sounds good I am going to listen to it.

It's really more about giving credit where credit is due.

Adele has done that.
Elvis credited the fact his influences were black southern blues artists before he became a Sun Records artist.
Eminem gave credit to his influences and atleast tried to give back by giving his crew D12 an outlet to release music and expand their reach to a broader audience.
Timberlake said "justified" was influenced by Off The Wall by MJ.
Diplo has put people on that he worked with in so many ways...

The fans have not given the credit the artists who crafted the aforementioned though and that's where the problem lies. So basically there's where the confusion starts...and less educated fans and music listeners run with the narrative.

I feel the same way. I don't care who makes the music as long as it's good, but there's a story behind that music that deserves to be told and not glossed over.

BTW @IllmaticDelta is dropping some amazing posts...don't sleep on that.

I stay invested in music cause I love it.
So black people cant like white artists? :dame:

No...hells no.

I listen to punk, harcore, metal, fukking new wave, post-punk, synth pop...some of the whitest music ever.
I've gone to punk and metal and rock shows in the past...was even in a punk band.

But I just hate when black people overrate white artists like adele in order to downtalk them or say what they should be doing. That's what I was trying to get at. What's she really doing different than what other black women in music or just women in music in general are doing? Somebody was right when they said she's basically Celine Dion of the 10s.

Personally, as long as it sound good to me I fukks with it. I fukks with Pet Shop Boys and those are two gay white guys from the UK who make great music especially some of my favorites from the 80s. I can't relate to the material, but it sounds good to me.

That pic actually sickens me. Can yall even imagine the largest country music station in a market being hosted and programmed by a bunch of black people.?

Can yall imagine white people letting us dictate whats hot in country music and them taking our opinions seriously the way yall do with these white "hiphop journalists"?:scust:

i've been saying this same shyt. hot 97 morning show is a JOKE. how you the voice of hip hop with 2 jews and a "latina". FOH

Also...what's "white music"?

Classical?

Cause all of the musical artforms that came after were invented and innovated by black people.

I read an interview with Glenn Danzig in Thrasher a couple of years back. Lead Singer of the Misfits and Samhain. He even said what Chuck Berry does is Rock N Roll...what he does is different. His own thing.

Punk originates from Ska and rudeboy culture really in the UK in the 70s (keep in mind Jamaica was a British Colony). With working class white neighborhoods that were highly influenced by reggae. That's the origin of the FIRST skinheads...not racist skinheads. The band Death was credited as one of the first punk bands ever to exist in America, and that was black dudes from Detroit.

House and Techno came to be in the midwest, specifically Chicago and Detroit. But that comes from disco in NYC, with Larry Levan and the legacy of the warehouse and paradise garage. From black gay culture. But then out of nowhere, the Bee Gees/Gibbs brothers become stars with chart topping disco hits and Saturday Night Fever was one of the most popular and iconic movies of the 70s.

I don't get why we as black people should feel like strangers in the houses we built...

Where did it originate from then?

Ever since classical music, all the genres of music that have been made have been made by black people so where does soul music come from in that extent?

Pretty much every musical form that exists today stems from the delta blues...

I'm not following you, and I think you missed the point of my post....

People are still listening to the radio in 2016 instead of having your phone hooked up via AUX in the car

:dahell:
Mine is broken. And I'll be damned if Imma pay for a completely new radio(like the whole thing needs to be replaced) just to have a functioning aux port

:to: I hear the same 12 songs every fukking car ride

ebro2.jpg

so why yall so shocked???

black radio hasn't represented the community since WBLS got sold by the Percy Sutton family of harlem to a big media conglomerate...

EMMIS BROADCASTING and CLEAR CHANNEL don't give a rat's azz about your culture
In 2016, broke mateys driving home from work have to Bluetooth to their phones to hear songs about bisexual codeine & ecstacy addicts diving into another man's girlfriend on a bed full of cash next to a Lambo on the roof of a penthouse/nightclub.

Also: Lmao@ R. Kelly talking about us supporting him, like a goddamn preacher asking for a "faith seed". Dudes have no shame in 2016.

Basically, if you don't understand capitalism in relation to compound interest and how owners of capital use it to manipulate the time-space continuum, most of the world will not make sense to you and you will be perpetually outraged and perplexed.

Culture is just bullshyt sold to lower tax brackets to maintain production and societal cohesion. With technological innovation and upgrades, production itself changes, which forces society to change, which then forces cultural changes. Por ejemplo:

"Left a good job in the city..." < "Friday night, just got paid..." < "Club going up, on a Tuesday..."

But once a worker ages past their societal prime for production, this equation is reversed, which is where reverence of culture comes from. The worker gets older and more nostalgic and clutches at herd immunity from the younger workers who are (seemingly) shaping shyt.

Modern R&B and Hip Hop is essentially slave music, music made to enslave its fans to debt. Lower tax bracket workers adopt the shyt as their culture and go into debt trying to acquire overpriced products pitched by the "artists" to attract a mate so they can go further into debt breeding future debt slaves. And all that debt is multiplied by compound interest over lifetimes.

Ironically, this renders these types of forums retarded, for the most part. Music is just infomercials for people, things, and emotions you can't afford.

This would be like Ferrari, Aston Martin, Lamborghini etc making infomercials and then people starting radio stations to broadcast excerpts of these infomercials, and then "infomercial fans" starting up forums to discuss their enthusiasm for the pitchmen, spokespersons, bikini models and actors of these infomercials.

No black people own radio stations, so they cannot dictate what gets played on the air.... :yeshrug: emmis communications and clear channel makes the rules and the playlists too...

This is the key and this is what people don't understand. Radio music changed in 1996 when Clinton administration passed the deregulation bill. It allowed large radio stations like clear channel to buy up tons of mom and pop radio stations throughout the country.

Black radio stations were bought up over night.
