Kanye was the one that told Micheal Mauldin (former Columbia Records pres and Jermaine Dupri's father) while shopping his dubut that "I'm gonna be a bigger star than Jermaine Dupri!" How you gonna tell the father of one of the biggest producers in the Hip Hop game you gonna be bigger than his own son? (and in an ironic twist he is now.)

Back then you could see Kanye's thirst and brashness for that star power and he always wanted that Micheal Jackson type of star status in Hip Hop and he's about there now.

Simply put it..he's the male Lady Gaga. Souled the fukk out.

I don't understand why Rappers have to rap about what YOU want them to rap about

He hasn't genuinely been the same since Graduation and his new shyt is soulless. Son went from being insecure to just straight up flossy like he should be on Ca$hmoney with Birdman.

Hip hop wouldn't let my nikka Nas live during The Firm, I'am, Nastra period.

nikkas are literally giving Kanye a pass with his lazy bars. (HE DOESNT EVEN PRODUCE HIS shyt ANYMORE)

Because the new generation are sellouts. Kanye came out and said "i sold my soul to the devil for a happymeal" and his fans were like :russ: :whoo: Like he was spitting hot lines.

Also, when people sell out, alot of times they just become irrelevant. People dont have to really acknowledge that they sold out. They just stop buying their music and basically ignore them. These demons are so high in the clouds they dont realize no one down there even cares about them anymore. Not until they look in the crowd and rarely see any of their people.

Its so demonic, friends.

How can u sell out who u always was..

Kanye has always been that guy so no he didnt sell out..

Rather he's being who he always was but u want him to change.

In other words if he was to give in to ur cries of him changing into something he never was, he would be selling out.

On the flip side given the numbers for Cruel Summer and the reviews you could argue there's a backlash brewing already ...even if thats not a Kanye album per say.

I swear rap fans are some simple ass motherfckers

I hope Kanye always remembers Hov's words of wisdom

"But once the world numbs you
You’ll feel like it’s only one you
Now you got the power to do anything you want to
Until you ask yourself
Is this what it’s all come to
Lookin' at life through sunglasses and a sunroof
But do you have the power to get out from up under you
fukk all these labels, fukk what everybody wants from you"

This thread is prime example of tryna make Ye feel like the first 2 lines

Yeah..I just noticed the contradiction on my part. Thank you.

I should have said the BALANCE in his music is off. He's too far to the right nowadays.

he sold out when "STRONGER" dropped

that shyt changed hip-hop in the worst way possible

How it change Hip Hop? explain deeper.

Nas catches flack because he came up in an era where you had to be some hypermasculine rapper to get respect. His flossy style of the Nastradamus era still catches flack to this day cause of him being temporarily lost.

Kanye came in the game when the rap game seeked change. Kanye never settled in a sound or a trend and kept switching it up so that his fanbase never gets tired of him.

Ye just going through his stages. At first, he was the college nikka. the everyman rapper. This was the College Dropout days.

Then, he was euro Kanye. He got a little money, success and fame. He started dressing a lil weirder and making more pop sounding joints. Less social commentary in his music. This was the Late Registration and Graduation days.

Then, he was emo Kanye. Standing on his album cover lookin suicidal after his mother had passed away. This was the 808 days.

Then, there was the :jawalrus: Kanye. fukkin with Amber Rose, showing up to the VMA's with a bottle of Hennessy, cupping Amber's ass, drunk, stealing the mic from Taylor Swift, knowing the whole world hated him but, still no fukks given whatsoever. This was the MBDTF era.

Now, he's hipster Kanye.

Yeezy also gets a pass cause he is on the spotlight of Hollywood. He is messing with Kim K. He made Hov half way relevant again to the new yuppies. He Has the likes of Big Sean and 2 Chainz under him.

But THATS NOT SELLING OUT. Selling out is kind of a myth in hip hop. Selling out is what lame backpack fans say when their favorite artists finds a new strategy or method and subject matter to discuss. People are soooo difficult to adapt i notice. I just digged up You Owe Me. Noone can tell me that song wasnt fire and that was viewed as Nas "selling out" My question for all of you lame elitist backpack chewstick fans, why would you want your favorite rapper to rap the same if it is a detriment to his success? And why would you want your favorite rapper to rap about things he isnt around anymore? You want Nas to rap about the hood and street shyt when he's a rich rapper traveling the world not seeing any hood shyt he saw before? Then that means all in all that your selfish and control freaks who think the world should revolve around what you think is best when you dont even know shyt. Nas didnt sell out, Jay didnt sell out, Kanye didnt sell out, LET IT GOOO. A true fan will like their fave artist whether they rap about sand or salads. As long as the lyricism stays why does it matter what they talk about? You nikkas want Jadakiss ass rappers and not even realize Jadakiss hardly eats anymore. nikka had to go back to a corner in Yonkers to eat. WHy would any rapper want that? So they can look "real" to their fans? Real dont pay the bills.

Pretty simple actually;

KAnye started out as a sellout and allowed himself to be a ghostproducer in the worst sellout situation culturally.
That any culturaly relevant activity he did, would be praised more than a guy like nas.
Who was the second coming of Christ wise culturally.
From the golden era of the new school way of thought.
So nas, is held to a higher standard.
Whereas ye is a sellout to the core.
So, ye making any light of the culture.
to pander and make commercial emo mainstream versions of atmosphere with commercial sentiments.
Will be praised more than a nikka like nas who never supposed to making jiggy shyt at all.

nas selling out is like black uhuru.
after sounds of freedom making a feature sellout dancehall record with shaggy and snow.
Called pum pum p*ssy gal,....
Then, acting like it never happened.

I am real and do not give any of that bullshyt a pass, culturally though.

I feel you but understand that Kanye's music has always been quality. It's not just the fact that Nas sold out it's the fact that his music became borderline terrible at times. Kanye's been strong musically up until GOOD Music.
