Ol’Otis
The Picasso of the Ghetto
This happened to Mariah the Scientist and SzaUntil there's a glitch or malfunction. Then you get to hear their real vocals and it ain't the studio version![]()
Their live vocals are horrible
Add Trey Songz in there

Keith Sweat doesn't have the greatest voice but it was cool because he stayed in his key and style. He didn't try anything else but what he was doing. You got singers like Tems that go on horrible runs with their voice instead of staying in control it.Can't forget Madonna, Paula Abdul, Keith Sweat, and Al B. Sure!
Once the Milli Vanilli experiments advanced with auto-tune and other studio tricks becoming available, even good ghost voices no longer became necessary ... any and every weak voice could be fixed and sound like magic.
Plenty of great voices still exist, if you want to hear current ones, you'll have to start looking more into underground R&B or gospel
I thought the coli said church & religion was useless.black church choirs dying
Naw breh Keef is off limitsKeith Sweat

Are there any older singers around to even give mentorship?

Some of the artists that fade were basically tax write offs and then were sabotaged on purpose to get rid of them
Watch this and look in the comments
The the popular side of the industry is a crime operation. They going after YSL, but if they are guilty they’re literally just doing what the cacs and “other” BEEN doing
And then that book called The (three letter)s War on Tupac which lists all the black artists who got taken out
also church singing has become a comedic tool
there is no way to maintain your cool & do it
folks are super conscious of their image now
so to be the begging crying burst a blood vessel sweating out your outfit ass type of vocalist is not the look or feel anymore
i said something similar about dancing
as much as people celebrate & respect the greats they all become punchlines
try hards die hard & effort is never seen as cool
we will have artificial intelligence to entertain us just around the corner ha

all the old heads are leads in the choir at church and they can SANG sang especially the brothers
when they pass its gonna be over
all the best instrumentalists learned at church too, they’re at least of my generation bc they woulda learned as kids from the same old heads in the 90s
but new gospel artists learned nikkaz dont go to church no more so its more profitable to crossover. none of them can sing anymore either they be on that crakka praise and worship sound now too
our native american culture is dying breh![]()
Ppl stopped going to church, lack of music education in schools
And advances intechnology
Once we got music videos and now social media an artist appearance is more important than ever
Plus studio magic
Record labels more likely to invest in an artist with a certain look and presence. Talent is secondary
And now with social media and streaming the under 25 crowd have become musics biggest market so ageism has gotten worst...social media influencers are now celebrities ...It's now easier than ever for independent artist to get their music heard and gain an audience
Young ppl generally dont care if a artist is off key as long as the beat is good and song catchy
people are not likely to go back to doing things in a more difficult fashion no*Been that way for over 16 years now. When people getting off the autotune wave? Or is it a permanent tool to keep black artists artistically crippled?
So discipline and effort = difficult?people are not likely to go back to doing things in a more difficult fashion no*
