Why VH1 stop doing Hip-Hop Honors?

A lot of the old school guys were upset with how it was being handled after the first few. VH1 and Fab wanted to bring pop rappers in and all that bs to get young people and ratings. They wanted more mainstream people doing the tributes. Between that and having southern artists on it it pretty much killed it.

They were denying people like Sadat X from being allowed in the building so they could have more pop rappers let in. A lot of old school rappers publicly came out against Fab Five Freddy and handling of the show and culture. A lot of the park jam rappers never liked Fab to start with. There's always been tension with Fab. If you do a google search you should still be able to find some open letters they wrote about the subject.

Lil' Jon does deserve it...a few years down the road, just not as early as he got it.

They fucced up trying to do so many at a time. They should've:

- only did like 3 a show, so they could have folks do 3-4 FULL songs for each honoree so they don't do one verse and move to the next one. I hated that chit.

- did 'em in chronological order. For example, they should've done Sugarhill Gang, Kurtis Blow and Grandmaster Flash/Furious Five the first show.

The problem is too many garbage Southern like Uncle Luke (2 Live Crew), No Limit, Timbaland Tribute, Jermaine Durpi Tribute and yet you have Gucci Mane, Bone Crusher, Lil Jon, Ying Yang Twinz, Bow wow, P.Diddy, Sillk The Shocker, etc performing for them.....and you believe that many people are willing to stay there and watch them, it was the worst one ever....and everybody was like . Why do you think that Geto Boys and Outkast didn't want be there with these shytty garbage southerne rappers? cause it was f*cking embarrassed.

Geto Boyz and Outkast and Goodie Mob deserve better that and yet VH1 picked them before them?...I know Get Boys was in Rap-A-lot buut still Geto Boys ain't even there.

I understand and agree wit freddy on this though. it's called vh1 honours, not lets make all these old skool rappers money. If they want a concert wit sadat x and brand nubian then let them nikkas go call Rock the Bells up.

2 me vh1 honours was a way to show da youths and the 106 n park generation of fans learn sum roots of da hip hop game, and the way to do that was get their current top and pop artists to come out n perform the old skools tunes and dances. and pay they tribute and kinda link it. Kinda like how cali swag district brought out del and did the humpty dance on the BET show a cpl years back.
