Actually this is wrong...

According to the ESPN.com article today- NBA players, on average, make the most $$ of any league in the world...:yeshrug:

Yes Messi and some of the other guys can make huge $$, but so do some cricket players. Hell, some cricket league averages are higher than some premier league teams.:mjlol:

Its not allll about the money though:
SportingIntelligence global salary survey - ESPN The Magazine - ESPN

5'5 chubby Indians dude making more than superman-athlete RB's in the NFL:snoop:

Still, I would rather my son play football or basketball so at least I can enjoy watching him play:manny:

The thing is ....cricket is the biggest sport in the most populated country in the world.

Does Brazil have academy type systems now and did they have that back in the day as well?

:russ: @ MLS teams drafting 23 year old stiffs with zero pro experience and playing against high school level soccer for 8 years.

yes, it may take a couple of generations, but soccer has way more attention now than it did when i was a kid. also, as middle and upper class kids stop playing football, soccer will definitely attract a lot of them.

Think about how far we've come in such a short time.

Americans only became truly conscious of soccer when the WC was hosted here in 1994.

In 20 years time (which isn't very long when it comes to building dynasties), we went from nobodies to a solid upper-middle-class team.

On top of that, more Americans are playing FIFA than ever, so awareness remains high.

Future looks bright, imo.

No development league or quality youth farming systems like in Spain which IMO is the pinnacle of development .. MLS just gonna be content signing washed up players and older has beens

Still being ranked #13 though :ehh:

The right way, the wrong way and the Max Power way
The FIFA World Rankings don't mean shyt guys.

USA is able to boost its ranking by racking up wins in qualifying for the World Cup against scrub teams like Guatemala, Jamaica and Panama.

If they meant something they wouldn't have been bounced out by the lower ranked Ghana 2 World Cups in a row.
