The weak link angle was before that. By June of 2013 (which is when his real main event push started), he didn't lose a singles match clean until the Rumble against Bray. After that, he didn't lose clean until Roman at Fastlane 2015. He didn't lose "multiple times" to anyone except Orton, one of which was the MITB cash in, and the other being the HIAC where HBK superkicked him. In fact, he has multiple wins over Roman during that period.

Hell, they sold his flying knee as a death finisher until that match. Roman was the first person to eat one and win, the entire point was to make it a big deal that the guy who was beating everyone gave everything in his arsenal and wasn't good enough to beat Reigns. And to nail the point home, they had Bryan cut a promo the next night that basically said "go get em tiger, you're better than me".

Bryan did end up on the wrong side of a lot of beatdowns to close out Raw and a lot of Authority fukkery, but in the ring? Man was damn near untouchable for 18 months.

And this is why you have guys on this board who didn't fukk with BD/DB who shyt on his fans, because he wasn't a 5 foot 7 Stone Cold in matches and segments and people cried about it. I don't like it, but I see their point.

When you're getting beat down twice a week, management telling the crowd "he's too small, he's ugly, he isn't a draw, he's nothing special, he's not worth watching", and then getting screwed out of the title every month until they push someone else into the title picture and even have him steal his yes chant, that is getting booked incredibly badly.
Brehs also gonna pretend like they didn't have GOAT dressed up like a wet, burlap smelling trashguy willingly getting kissed by Bray :bryan:

Daniel Bryan lost to Bray Wyatt, and Orton numerous times between Summerslam and the RR :what:

Bryan also looked pretty strong at times too. He constantly whooped Orton's ass before he turned heel and he made the Shield his personal League of Nations when they were still feared heels.

That lasted like a week or two then he beat the living fukk out of Bray in a cage for five or ten minutes and knocked Harper and Rowan off the side for good measure. For the longest time I didn't know Bray even won the blowoff match. The whooping was so thorough I thought they were ending the Wyatts that night as Bryan sat on the cage.

Bray fukked Bryan up at the Royal Rumble though :ld:......booking standards even if he were in the Rumble no way he was going to do any damage....:manny:

That was a good moment. Should have had Bryan go ahead and finish him off at RR and then have the Wyatt's re-debut after Mania. Didn't he set them free a couple of months later anyway?

They sure as shyt ain't promoting him as such out of the ring.

Yeah I know it can be said that John Cena is still around, and that he would need to put Reigns over first to solidify the passing of the torch.

Just one fukking problem, and that is Roman ain't pulling Cena duty even as Champion. So if your going to make Roman the new mouthpiece for this generation, his ass needs to be doing PR work to promote the brand. He looks more like Randy Orton everyday, content to be a Top Guy but never doing work like Cena. Which would be all cool and shyt, but Vince wants him to be The Man.

Maybe its just me, but I just find it fukking weird that WWE isn't pushing Roman outside of programming as the next big thing.

Roman is going to have some other "top" guy to play off of

Vince's main pick is never the one. He didnt see SCSA to be what he was off top. Rock had to go through major overhaul to become the star he envisioned, and still didnt do it through his outdated blueprint. Cena himself wasn't the main pick either, he became so over time as you pointed out Orton won the world title before him, and Batista got the rumble leading up to Cena's first mania world title win. :manny:

1 clean loss. He did lose a lot of house show matches via count out or DQ to set up rematches around the horn. The general formula for him (and Bruno) seemed to be "Lose first match via count out, lose second via DQ, win in a standard match or, if heated enough, in a cage. Although in Bruno's case, he seemed to lose most of his cage matches by knocking his opponent through the door and then winning a straight match later.

The only matches he lost by pinfall in WWF 1983-1993

Andre in 1988 via second ref shenanigans, match was overruled and title vacated
Warrior at WM6, completely clean
Taker at Survivor Series 1991, after a tombstone on a chair (and assist from Ric Flair), won title back days later, vacated anyway
Yoko KOTR 1993 after a camera exploded in his face

As a comparison, Hogan had 4 clean pinfalls in 2002 alone. I think he had 10 singles matches in WCW where he actually lost by pinfall or submission. 7ish were clean.
still cant believe they did that

Spring of 2013. Dbry was merking them every week in singles and tags.
Oh, Ok :duck:

All you need to do is read the threads from that time period and you'll see what was actually happening.

I guess my time frame was slightly off. It was more in the Summer/early Fall that Bryan was actually getting wins over them frequently in singles, tags, and 6 man tags. But in Spring, he was physically beating the shyt out of them almost every week on tv. Multiple times of taking out all 3 dudes by himself in a match.

Bryan's fire ups and come back spots in 2013 were SPECIAL. I was getting goosebumps every week watching him.
