No it's not you fakkit moron

Jodeci talked about the Labels pushing real rnb out
ain't no money in it. If you're not hip hop, pop /top 40, country or christian, good luck. Just this past weekend, they shut down a rock station in Boston of all places to turn it into a christian station. They're getting mainstays outta here.

R&B when crafted right is great but it requires hands-on artist development and that just doesn't happen very much anymore.

R&B and Soul wont return until there is a Black media platform similar to BET back in the 90s..until then, soulful music play will be at the discretion of cacs etc.

nikkas start up with this shyt every 5 years but continue to make the same remedial shyt they always do.:heh:
Stevie is still alive. nikkas should be sitting at his feet absorbing all his lessons the same way he did with The Funk Brothers:feedme:
At least we can go back and listen to classic R&B
Folks have been doing this for years.

Crying about the state of R&B (and hip-hop), but won't do a damn thing about it.

It’s hard to get into a lot of this new shyt but let me try to post some of my “personal classics” over the past few years

I could post a bunch of Miguel songs but I won’t.. he’s one of my favorites

they came out in the wrong era. I feel like the Hive Mind album would’ve been one of the biggest in r&b if it came out a few years before it did.

I love Jillian Hervey(Lion Babe) :yeshrug: I wish she was one of the biggest stars in music but it is what it is.

I mean even this album was great. They didn’t try all hard to fit in with the current sound and stuff and kept it grown folks. I just think people forget about or don’t even know all this great music exists. I’ll just leave the post here

The labels push what people want. If they wanted real rnb they would market it.

Exactly. The "labels" react to what the market desires.

The "soul" culture of musicianship, coming out the black church and the entire community, began dying over 30 years ago. That's when black bands and groups started to fade.

Meanwhile, 50/60 years ago, the community was literally exploding with rich talent and creativity.

Berry Gordy simply captured in his company what was already happening around him everyday.
