It's become a form of entertainment. Which is why i agree with him. I'v seen groups of people sit and watch DOTA/LOL or whatever like they were watching the superbowl. That is a revenue stream that companies could be using. They underestimated the amount of goofy ass people who would actually sit and watch somebody else play an RPG.better question is who watches full playthroughs for help? you need somebody else to hold your hand the entire game?
YouTube streamers shouldn't be allowed to show more than 30-45 minutes of a game. Watching a full play through should be banned.
All i know is before i buy/download a game i use youtube as a way to see the game in action from multiple views. I cant just go by whats written anymore, and i need certain youtube reviewers stance too

I guarantee its a very, small, small percentage of ppl who actually sit and watch all 10+ hours of a game. And you have no proof that these walkthroughs affect game sales. I have never in life heard someone say "I'm not copping TLOU. I watched peepee lou pou play the whole game so I am good."
Exactly this shyt going over ppl heads.Phil Fish better keep his mouth shut unless he wants to shut down a tremendous FREE marketing service for indies. There's a reason companies like Activision and other titans aren't shutting down these streams and Nintendo ended up changing their policy towards streaming. Marketing is expensive. Go ahead and shut down a free avenue to reach millions of people if you want to. There will be some developer who is smart enough to look at it for what it is, which is free promotion.
For the people supporting this be mindful as it can get much worse if developers start getting a cut of that YouTube revenue. There are channels where people do covers of songs, play guitar, keyboards, video game music, FAQs for products etc. Should those developers and manufacturers get a cut too?

THIS is your argument breh? You are a pretty smart individual, but how are you comparing the two? Someone covering a song in its entirety takes a lot more effort than it does me grabbing my controller, playing the game and going through it. It is nowhere near the same IMO.
Plus, you also have to consider that a song in the grand scheme of things is $1...and the experience is over in usually less than 5 minutes.
A full game however costs $60 apiece...AND sometimes costs HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS of dollars to create. Someone playing a story driven game such as Max Payne 3 in its entirety without talking much just gave away a "viewing" and actually PROFITING from it.
Its pretty simple really. Look how many studios have closed down in the last five years. People just dont get how fragile the gaming market is currently. Have you looked at release schedules? Dry as a bone. How are gamers hurt by youtubers? If you want to experience it yourself than simple don't watch the video.
Im not a gamer at all, I used to love watching my older brother play video games [RPG's] when I was younger. Im not really good at games and never cared to be good at them but I just liked watching someone else progress through the storyline. Im sure there are others like me. I watch gamers on twitch and also youtubers.
Mind you the ppl viewing these gamers play the games watch for more than just watching the game. The top youtube gamers are personalities, ppl just like listening to them for entertainment and do it while watching them play the game.
