:dwillhuh:

I got this shyt on my laptop & when I open it up it's like reading Chinese

My cousin is a producer plugged in the industry and hooked me up with mad shyt like Omnisphere and other crazy plugins and my tiny ass brain can't use any of it

have you ever seen a producer's workflow?
you kinda saying you are a full noob.
while trying to head fake like you are in the know.
like the rest of these toys.

what do you write?

if you can not answer you have no pillar, cypha etiquette, and need to go build before you produce.
as culturally in hiphop you have no discernible place skill or origin. Therefore you are not a part of hiphop.
so why are you trying to rap or in real culture thief based terms.
misappropriate the pillars of dj'n and emcee'n.

build ya skills first.

I started with both Reason and FL Studio. FL was way easier. Then I tried Cubase and FL was still easier.

To me that's it's flaw. It makes everything too easy you miss out on developing skills.

you can develop every skill easier with fl over any tool ever made for producer period. The rest of that shyt is similar to supernerd non functional hardware users.
or quite simply made for someone.
who already knows hardware and is converting to software.

You only say this because of 9th Wonder. If he didn't break ground with this software you wouldn't respect it.

Crazy ive been making beats for a decade and I’ve never used a sample pack or looped melody. I’ve always been using drum loops tho

I really want to start making sample packs etc
What instruments you play? What VSTs you use?

Studio one v. 5, mpc ren, beatmaker 3

I play the keys by ear
I have studio one too but I have it for mixin, got cool shyt but fl studio and serato studio easier for me to program drums. Wtf is mpc ren.? What’s beatmaker?

What exactly does playing by ear mean outside of playing other peoples shyt? You knows scales and chords right?

"Playing by ear" means you have strong relative pitch and you can understand intervals as well as rhythm.

Intervals are what make up chords & scales.
To do that you need to train your ear.

MPC ren is a midi controller version of the MPC.

How do I train my ear? I have a piano, keyboard and keyboard midi. Last night taught myself the triads for G and F major scales.

Tonedear.com is a good website to check out.
I haven't been training my ear lately but 20 to 30 minutes a night is recommend.

Try to learn all of the major scales, the relatively minor scales, the intervals that make up a major scale & minor scale

Like a major scale for example is:
Major 2nd
Major 3rd
Perfect 4th
Perfect 5th
Major 6th
Major 7th
Perfect 8th

Knowing these intervals (and more) will help you pick apart songs more easily in the future.

Thanks breh

You're welcome man !
And don't be afraid to use "Cheesy" free VST's.
Even if the instruments don't sound "Real", it's the sound design stage and the mixing/mastering stage which matters the most
and will bring even the wackest shyt to life.

Also:
Do you brehs exlusively use drum packs ? Or do you chop up and sample your own drums ?

I've got a few packs but I'm looking into trying to either record my own drums OR start sampling
from this vinyl I've been collecting.

Also @TEKBEATZ, hey O.G. what's the word on sample flipping ? I really want to get into that next.
