This. I seen an episode of Rhythm Roulette featuring dude and really wasn't impressed. Dude just took a sample and have a already made drum loop for it. While it saves time, dude didn't even try to do some banging of pads or any type of sound effects to the beat.

madlib has a huge discog, he uses different hardware and instruments , he also has different styles, he can do the chops or he can do the simple loops with no drums, madlib has mad different styles, just listen to his beat konducta albums and then switch to the shades of blue album and then if you really about that life listen to his lootpack stuff, its all different

yep, his drums weak and alot of his shyt sounds too similar. id gladly avoid him but he always working with favs (OC/Planet Asia/Gunn etc)

theres an art to a loop, just depends on how its touched filter wise and the drums. thats the only reason id name Apollo, and honestly 9th too.never understood how they put so much time in sample mining/learning programming/chopping then have have lazy drums patterns/sounds. now i like 9th alot more than AB, but he can be frustrating

CD era Kanye was weird, because he had amazing drums early in his career. then him and Just got caught up in the clap snare phase, with Kanye using more subdued ones with alot of bongos

thought he righted things by Late Reg tho, the next few albums had no issues with percussion. feel like it made CD age quicker than it should have outside a few classics
