for real, i tried to use the same sample he did for group home the living proof song, i really dont know how he chopped and looped that shyt cause its not easy at all
It really shows that people don’t understand production at all. The fact that he can flip and chop all those different sounds yet still be able to have his signature sound is incredible

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
CD era Kanye was weird, because he had amazing drums early in his career. then him and Just got caught up in the clap snare phase, with Kanye using more subdued ones with alot of bongos

thought he righted things by Late Reg tho, the next few albums had no issues with percussion. feel like it made CD age quicker than it should have outside a few classics
He’s always had issues with drums from the beginning. He always made it known his drums didn’t hit as hard as Just Blaze’s. Which is true. He always wasn’t as good at chopping as Just Blaze either. But he did have some dope drums in his prime tho. Even tho it’s wasnt his strength as a producer.

nikka madlib is my favorite producer of all time

I'm not just Guna sit here a dikk ride him. Madlib even says himself that he doesn't do much to loops he keeps them original

Go on who sampled and listen to the original records most of them are just 4 bars or 8 bar loops.

AND THATS THE MAJORITY OF BEAT MAKERS WHO SAMPLE

Exceptions are dilla just blaze early alchemist early havoc lord finesse premier 9th wonder Etc...

Icytwat literally added a waterfall in the background and put trap drums and a lex luger vox over a fat jon sample:dead:
This is why nikkas get sued:dead:
I get that there are a lot of producers on here and I understand how hard looking for good samples is, but this type of shyt is why people talk down on producers and say dumb shyt like hip hop isnt actually an artform. It's why I'll never talk down on these trap producers yall hate so much cause at the very least they are CREATING they're own music. If I sample sumn and I can still clearly hear the original work it gets scrapped, at least look for a creative loop yall caping for laziness right now

Nah the fact that Preem is one of the best at chopping and flipping samples isn’t an opinion. It might not be your cup of tea but you definitely showing your ignorance
DJ Premier will take shyt that shouldn't even be able to loop, or at least not sound good looped, and chop it up into some crazy shyt. It's the subtleties.

A lot of them are recycling drum loops, using basic melodies, or using preset patterns from their VSTs. Like for example:

Here's Mike WIll made it fronting like he came up with the guitar thing from black Beatles when in reality he just put a preset at a lower pitch and EQ'd it.

Not only that, but you used the most extreme example possible to make your point. That nikka sampled a hip-hop beat...that's beyond lazy sampling, that's just straight biting. That doesn't mean shyt as far as a greater point about all sample-based producers. Remember all of the shyt J. Cole took for recycling The Art of Storytelling?

you all need to shut the fukk up. there's nothing easy about spending countless hours digging for music no one is checking for. Not to mention, most of those samples that you think are just samples on loop actually have minor chops to make said loop work.
Word these nikkaz think it's so easy to loop a fukking record ... sometimes it's harder to loop a fukking record then chop up multiple parts of a sample....many times I had to chop a loop to make that shyt connect properly.

I don't know of any trap producer who uses drum loops. Plenty of boom bap producers get their drums from kits just like trap producers do or they straight up sample drum loops so how is that different from presets? There are lazy producers in all genres of hip hop
