What part of American culture would be missed?
For me? Mainly the diversity, but also the amount of opportunity and lack of traditions/rigidity. There is something here for everybody. If u want to do more than teach English for $1200/month, will there be the same opportunities elsewhere? Probably not, if not for the lack of economic strength then for the huge language barrier needed to be crossed to be fluent enough to work at a place that doesn't speak your native tongue

I can def see retiring out of America but IMO your 20s-40s are the time to build wealth so you can have that freedom later

the US isn't the only place in the world that offers more than teaching jobs breh

"Diversity" breeds racism....unless you just want to chase "pawgs" or something. But there are other countries besides the US that has all races.

Your 20s-40s you can make money in America yes....but 20s-40s are also the when you can have the best time of your life. Not so much if you are well off but in your 50s. What are you really going to use that money for later in life? Relaxing on the beach and drinking bears...living a simple life because thats all your body can really do at that point. Guess what....you can do that now with proper planning.

But if a person really likes western culture America is an ok place to be....Europe seems like it would be good too if thats your thing.

thing is that 1200 a month stretches so much more in many countries than it does in the USA.

The US is the easiest place to get those jobs though, by far. If it weren't people from all over the world wouldn't STILL be trying to come here.

And you can have the best time of your life at any point in your life. If you take care of yourself in your 20s-40s you will be good to go in your 50s-70s. There is PLENTY you can use the money for. Most obvious one being traveling. You are most likely not doing much of that making $1200/mo, even if you are living within your means on that.

Europe is cool but it's way more expensive than the US, and again there are hurdles to cross. Immigration is not easy or cheap, and their economy is still depressed in some places... it won't be easy to get a job there.

I am just confused as to what is so horrible about the US that we have to leave immediately. Its a big, rich country... a lot of quality of life issues can be avoided by just choosing to avoid them.

I mean it all depends on what you like to do in your life. I don't think the things you will be doing in your 50s -70s will be the same things u do at 20s - 40s

And you keep bring up this 1200 a month but I think you are thinking in American cost of living. The cost of living differes from country to country, but even if you have 600 in expenses and can save the rest....a lot of american can't save 600 dollars a month so you still ahead of the game.

I think you still need proper planning....For me....1200 pls the 600 to 700 of profit i would get from renting out my Condo is almost 2k a month. That is not too bad. A lot of brehs can make it a realistic goal if they just make moves towards making it happen.

true
anyways next year I may try this, rent a condo or something fro a month in a country and just check it out :ehh:
That's a good look just in general. Next time we do Paris we are gonna rent an apartment. Love it there but I know living there wouldn't work. Last time we went we almost didn't come back :demonic:

As someone with lots of family outside of the US and friends that have decided to take stints outside of the US... I would breakdown the decision to move abroad for myself as follows:

  • What is the business climate of [country]?
    • What are the major companies from there? what are their exports? what are they known for? what is an emerging business that I could potentially get in on the ground floor?
    • For me the business climate is top priority because that's most impt to me
  • What is the society of [country]?
    • Political unrest? Religious? Conservative?
    • Are there a bunch of cities that are good to live in or is it just one city and everything else is rural?
    • What is the language situation? (Some places are OD on the anti-English shyt)
    • Are things like banks/real estate/courts & legal precedings transparent? Is bribery common? Will I need to have a native person available who has my back to help get me out of a jam?
  • How do foreigners fare in [country]?
    • In work? In society? Traveling from [country] to other parts of the world is there any stigma?

I understand sometimes we want to just pack up and go, but if you are genuinely thinking about doing it..... I would say knowing the above is essential before you can make a move if you dont wanna be assed out. Again, these are the questions I ask about living in a place where I have roots/family.. foreign country would have to be more vigilant.

Best option is to work for a company that sends you abroad and then you can think about relocating there yourself.

That's what I'm doing tho it's HIGHLY discouraged by my employer to purchase real estate or have any financial holdings overseas

you don't even have to live there, just leave before the visa gives out and go back home then decide if that's what you really want
