My Mexican Uncle is big on this.

if he doesn't know you, he doesn't even want to talk to you on the phone.... there is no better way to gauge a person than face to face. especially when it comes to things that involve a certain level of trust from both parties.

it's easy to hide who you are online, not too many people can do it in person without the buffer of social media.

those types do have a good system in place.

but forreal tho, ANYBODY can make themselves sound good via resume,or the internet... but in person, things change.... a lot of that e-fluff won't help you when you're face to face with somebody.

Wonderful thread OP. I've been up and down the ladder so I definitely can dish out some advice lol.

  • Take your time and don't let ur friends/family dictate your moves. Your friends will want you to be in similar situations as them (relationships, financial, etc), but let life happen to you as it occurs.
  • Don't overplay your hand. Regardless of how comfortable you are with ppl, you never know who their allegiance is with. I've been in situations where i was seconds away from making a comment about a person, when the person i'm speaking with says "I love ___" or "___ is one of my best friends." Thank god for those hesitations.
  • Don't overdo it with liquor and drugs. If you dabble recreationally, whatever.. who am i to judge, but that shyt catches up with you QUICKLY if you're not super careful. Don't end up in jail over something you could have prevented easily.
  • Opportunity will come if you position yourself and ur skillset properly. I graduated college in 2007 and began fulltime at a financial company making $48K. Within 3 years, i left there to start my own business, with my savings and investments. I went from making $48K with this company to making less than $10K with my own. I was beyond broke for years. By the end of 5 years, i had used up nearly all of my savings and was scrambling for a job. I applied everywhere for anything that sounded halfway decent. I couldn't even get a callback. I decided to go to a job fair at my alma mater, where i met a hiring manager for a sales job (i avoided sales like the plague) with a company i never heard of in life. I've been with the company making $100K+ for the last 4 years, and i've been promoted 3 times to the top non-management job. Sometime shyt just happens.
  • Get all the womanizing out of your system as best you can before you settle down seriously with a chick. The worst thing you can do is screw up a good situation with a good woman by messing around and being dumb. I've done it multiple times and each time you get caught out there, you can see the spark dim more and more.
  • Focus on fitness early. Nothing is harder than trying to create a brand new canvass while trying to juggle all these 30 yr old balls (figuratively and literally)

Whenever u are trying your best to accomplish something and it seems like u just cant get your goal accomplished....always remember the crackhead. The crackhead could wake up broke with no money and no crack in the morning...But somehow...someway...By the end of the day...The crackhead gets that crack. Now the obstacles that the crackhead had to go thru just to get that crack is irrelevant...They were determined by the end of the day to achieve their goal and they achieved it. You too can acheive your goals with determination, dedication and discipline ....never forget the drive of a crackhead.
I showed this to my sisters & they were like :ohhh:

Don't waste your money going to Atlanta/Miami/Vegas for getaways/vacations....especially if you've been there multiple times.

it's gonna be the same shyt everytime... might be a new club, or some new bytches... but still the same shyt.

it's not that expensive to fly to another country...or a different city that you've never been to before.

^you on the money with that, especially ATL

I don't get it.... how do people do Howard Homecoming,CIAA,A3C in Atlanta, Spring Break in Myrtle Beach, MDW in Miami EVERY year?

why not sit them out, and go somewhere you've never been.
Some people really spend all of their 20's in the same time zone
