i feel like they shoulda just went to the Air Force first but i was discouraged cus of my OWI n allat. But the army recruiter said he didnt even see it on there when he looked up my CCAP(court records). :mjlit:.

My possession was still on there but that didnt show up on the background check either :wow:.

Should I send this army recruiter off n check out the Air Force? I got a 79 on my asvab from the Army recruiter:lupe:.

Im just nervous about going in and then not getting an IT job, i mean they'll train me well Im sure in whatever I do but still
Bro, Navy/AF pretty much guarantees your job in your contract. Unless you fukk up and do something that won’t allow you to do your job shile you’re in, you should be fine.

Army dude isn’t going to check shyt off for the AF you got to go to your own AF recruiter for that

Was it the official asvab or practice? Official asvab is at MEPS not at the recruiting office. Regardless, what you get on your official asvab is official across all branches

AF might not care about priors it all depends on your recruiter. I’ve seen people with priors still get clearances.

I might've missed it, but one thing no one spoke about is saving money. How much did y'all end up saving? How much can you save in 4-6 years? It'd be nice to have a down payment for a nice house + 1 year emergency funds

Also what's so special about veteran's insurance and savings account? Heard somebody talking about that before.
Bro thats all on you and up to you

How you budget your money is your own thing. Everyone’s different.. some save tens of thousands and some don’t save anything. I would say have about 2/3 full paychecks worth of savings and just go from there once you get that.

Basically, your main concern should be learning your job, getting training, keeping your nose clean, and getting out and going to school or whatever else. Military is kinda a stepping stone even if you make it a career/retire

The way the AF works, the more guaranteed your job the longer it takes to ship you out. It no lie can be 9 months to a year before you ship if you go Delayed Entry Program instead of open general or open mechanical (when the AF picks your job).

As far as your record....keep in mind the background check they're running on you is called a Special Agency Check (SAC) and is very low level.

Basically its seeing if your fingerprints are associated with any active criminal investigations...so with that said just because the RECRUITER is saying they dont see anything on your record doesnt mean the DoD Central Adjudication Facility wont see anything (they're the governing responsible for granting your security eligibility).

With that said having a record doesnt mean you wont get a Top SECRET or SCI eligibility, which is what you must have for IT career fields.

So ultimately I'd still give the AF a chance

79 isn’t really that high for them to be that impressed...

But af recruiters do act distant af. Like they don’t care if you join them or not

And it’s just practice. You haven’t officially took shyt or sighned shyt so you can talk to whichever recruiter you want.

I took my practice with the army too then switched to Navy and enlisted just because i had a homie who recommended me to a navy recruiter.

I turned 25 very recently, been working IT the past 2 years and while it’s been dope I feel like I can be doing more than just working in offices n shyt in this little ass city smh. Been putting this off for too long I feel, been interested since high school talking to this recruiter in a job fair. I wanna try to do IT in the Air Force or something related. Maybe even cross train if possible.

I’m already knowing I gotta get in shape, but I used to be active asl I minus well just get back to being an active ass nikka again :yeshrug:

Any advice or tips?? Pros vs cons of joining at my age other than being yelled at by shorties??

So what’s up with you now? Did you enlist?

79 high on the practice. At least when i took it you would get about 10-20 on the real one. I scored kid 70s on practice and 92 on the real one

Yeah i forgot which way it went. I actually scored a 80-something on the real one first time abd took it again years later rushing through it with a high 70something

The coast guard before the Navy nikka?

Chair force and coast guard most desirable cuz it's a easy 20 years. I'd do nothing and collect a check forever.

Whatever branch just make sure you document EVERYTHING and get a va rating on the way out
