Do you think a remedy exists to prevent early trade details?

Remember the Clippers resigning Blake to a multi-year max, dropping a whole bunch of video tributes in the process, then shipping him off to Detroit to die a few months later :picard:
Hey if it’s allll white …it’s alll right …. Nobody cares about the principles of players leaving teams after a year into a deal …they only want the white owners to dictate what these players do more often

If a player requests out within 2 years of his max deal. He forfeits his final year(if it's a player option)

If a team trades a player that did not formally request a trade, they must pay a portion of his last year(if he chooses to opt into it if it's an option)

Sumpin like that. Gotta get creative

I’ve really soured on Silver in recent years. He’s less racist than Stern but that’s about it

Right. People are going to pick out 2-3 names out of the entire league.

I suppose the league is right to be concerned over the optics of it but I’m not sure it’s a big a deal as the public makes it out to be.

nah..it's a big deal. Those are players with $200M+ contracts who are sitting out and demanding trades. That hits different than a chump change player.

Owners are almost always wrong but they do have a point here. People hate it but the players are supposed to honor a contract. What Durant/AD/Bum/irving have done is spit in the face of a contract.. they are supposed to hold up their end.

if players don't wanna be traded early then they need to negotiate that. Didn't Beal just get a no-trade clause?

When has ownership honored any thing they say to a player?

Owners can’t just up and trade players then like Blake & Harrison Barnes or Demar. Also healthy players like Wall should not be held back because of a lack of trade offers
Actually they can cause you know...it's written into the contract that the player signs that they can be traded anywhere at anytime for any reason.

Does it look bad? Yep. So what. They got a legally binding document that is part of a labor agreement that says they can do it...so?

Also players can negotiate no trade clauses where they can contractually dictate where a team can trade them. You know like Bradley Beal did.

Not sure if I said this here, but at the end of the day…if you can get traded at any time, you can ask for a trade at any time. The request doesn’t necessarily have to be granted. These owners and players will be alright with how it is now

There’s also nowhere in NBA contracts where it says players can’t request a trade at any time. Does it look bad? Yep. Is it illegal? Nope.

Players have been requesting trades since the beginning of the NBA.

And a player can ask to be traded
