I don't think its correct to say AA Culture is the most influential.
BUT I will wholeheartedly agree that AA culture has had an influence on western culture.

I'd probably agree music-wise. Rock comes from Blues. Pop, Hip-Hop and R&B come from Funk and Soul, etc.

But one thing I've wondered, do people think Hip-Hop also takes some of it's influence for it's ethos from white Punk music? Both were grassroots movements who had DIY ethics, led by kids from underpriveliged inner city suburbs. Neither were particularly glossy in sound compared to a lot of stuff from the 70s and 80s but both had a socially conscious message. I can see a lot of parallels. When Hip-Hop started to break in the late 70s, that was sorta the time when Punk was in it's prime, with The Clash dropping London Calling etc. I've always wondered if there was a link.

Not trying to insinuate white people invented Hip-Hop, but weren't some of the Hip-Hop pioneers into stuff like The Clash and The Ramones etc?
