Listen fam I don’t have to deny anything bc it’s a fact. Nas didn’t have to go to Jayz for a damn thing. So you can believe what you want. Nas never had an issue with Jayz bc Jayz didn’t decide anything pertaining to Nas.Jay Z, who was involved in doling out budgets at Def Jam, was a "figure head" with no real power who had zero to do with acquiring a major artist? Come on fam. I worked at Interscope, I know how this goes. A lot of artists were unhappy with Jay Z during his tenure. If he was just a figure head, no one would have complained.
I'm not saying Jay Z was the point man for the negotiations. LA Reid was the real boss, we know this. But to say he was a figure head who had nothing to do with nothing is factually wrong.
None of this is even a criticism of Nas, so I don't understand why you're pressed. He got a GREAT deal. At a time when brehs weer complaining about the budgets that Hov was handing out, Nas got budgets that were separate from his advance...the type of deal major pop stars or r&b stars might get. He even got a big ass mixtape marketing plan. Nas is not the loser in this equation. Denying Hov had any role in this shyt is just nonsense.

“Mixing emotions and phrases that mean nothing”. Is exactly what you are doing. So on that note I’ll let you continue with your false theory of Jayz’s heavy influence in signing Nas.You guys keep mixing emotion and phrases that mean nothing...with business. No one said Nas "had to go to Jay-Z" for anything. You keep making this sound like a subservient relationship when literally nobody (outside of haters) would claim that's the case. It was a business. Jay-Z was the president and had heavy influence on a variety of decisions at the time...including budgets, marketing ideas, and artist acquisition. Securing an artist of Nas' caliber was important. Hell, Hov played a major role in signing The Roots to Def Jam and ensuring Game Theory became what it is...yet you're gonna tell me he had nothing to add to NAS signing to the label?

Jay-Z -- artist, producer and entrepreneur -- has been named president and CEO of Def Jam Recordings. He will report directly to Antonio "LA" Reid, chairman of the Island Def Jam Music Group.
you cant sign an artist of nas caliber. you can only partner with him.
Fam. The only one mixing emotions is you. Jay, Nas, and LA Reid THEMSELVES have said how this situation worked. Nas himself has disputed this shyt plenty of time. UR going off of opinions and emotions rather than by the words of the people directly involved. Bottom line is that Nas wasn’t just some regular ass artist on Def Jam. And Jay couldn’t have influenced moves on Nas’ behalf because he would’ve gotten CURVED by HIS boss at the time. He would’ve been going against the interest of HIS boss. Regardless of how bossy u feel Jay was. It was HIS bosses that made the call for Nas in the first place. And he wouldn’t have been able to override that. You guys keep mixing emotion and phrases that mean nothing...with business. No one said Nas "had to go to Jay-Z" for anything. Why u mad at me for saying factual shyt lolJay didnt shelve Nas... that couldve been his biggest revenge. But no, he had to sit on his hooves and let Nas get his paper LA said he would give him. Nas got 6 million for his first two albums.
@Cladyclad dude..stfu
I won’t rest til u on one knee
He called Def Jam & Hov the devil like 3 years prior to signing. I guess the money he received erased the devil out of them.![]()
can you prove any of this?
im asking because your claim about nas is 100% incorrect. your stating jayz was nas boss which wasnt true at all.
a boss is defined as a person in control of a worker. how could nas be a worker if the head of the label makes special deals for him?
if jay was nas boss then nas would have to check in with him. he didnt.
the reason the deal even happened was because mark pitts was nas manager and used to be BIGs manager so he knew jayz and felt like his presence was enough to squash it (which it was)
Jay-Z Named Def Jam President/CEO
if jayz reports to la reid, and nas reports to la reid.............
then what jayz said was true.
Another line that made no damn sense lol“Queens ...... RUN you ....., ask Russell Simmons”
All fax no fixtion
