Oh when I go to American cities like Youngstown I consider anything “Caribbean” Jamaican. Lots of other islanders in NY don’t really have the courage or numbers to open shop all over the country. Other people might look at it confused on some “wtf is Haitian and Trini food”. Jamaica is widely known and popular so it’s easier for them to go all over and do business.
In my experience, when they say "Carribean Restaurant" instead of Jamaican or Hatian or some other shyt. That generally means shopping mall food court style jerk chicken, Popeyes Chicken quality Beans and Rice and maybe some Ox-tail. And a bunch of Asians or Mexicans in the kitchen.

I grew up in Ohio too. The most ethnic food I ate was the food my parents made. When I moved to Cali, I was :ooh: at the diversity of food I came across

Whats some specific Nigerian dishes you would recommend?

We got like three Caribbean places in the whole town. but nothing specifically Jamaican.

I bet if you looked closely at the whole menu you’ll see that they serve different kinds of soups.

Most people (not saying you) just go with what’s popular and don’t look at everything offered closely.

I think it’s a general consensus that modern “Nigerian” food is up there for woat on the planet, definitely amongst black folk.

If you didn't grow up eating fufu it is hard to jump in and start eating. For one, a lot of the people already fukked up by chewing the fufu instead of swallowing it. That's one of the big mistakes "newcomers" make. Two, you kinda have to find the soup you actually like eating.

Quality of the food is an issue but I think USA has a bigger problem with the quanitity of what we eat, how often and access.

Quality is only an issue if you buy your food at Walmart or some run down grocery store.

There’s farms everywhere plus fresh seafood for the coastal people that aren’t in large industrial cities.

To be fair, my original post stated that you can get most food as long as you're willing to go to a sit down restaurant and wait for it to be prepared to order. or by cooking it yourself.

My point was we don't have enough fast food/street vender with prepared food simmering ready to just pour you a cup like they do in alot foriegn food markets.
During a festival or a streetfair you might see a dude with a big pot simmering pouring out bowls for people. but outside of that , usually the fastest way to get something to eat while on the go is a burger place.
instead we got hotdog trucks

The not chewing part is already hard for my brain to easily accept for something that isn’t straight liquid.

Oh I get you, like walking through an Asian market or something?

We definitely don’t have nothing like that here either.

I wish. :noah:

Lol yup, even as a little boy your first instinct is to chew. I hated garri/fufu/whatever as a kid growing up however as my tastes bud matured I really like it because it's a big mix of flavors. My little brothers don't eat it and haven't eaten for a long time, they'd probably react like the people in the video.

Yes exactly :wow:
I wish we replace mcd's with shyt like this.
Market is cool when you're going and just chilling, coming back from the club, etc. but I appreciate Mickey D's and fast food because they serve their purpose. When I'm going to school or on break from work, I actually like pulling up to the drive-thru, getting my food, and leaving quickly. The lines aren't even that long.

You can still eat those same foods in the US lol. The only real thing thats different is the amount of sugar in our food products.

Going overseas and seeing how little sugar and chemicals there is in a lot of places blew me away. Can't even front. We go after drug dealers but these companies are legally selling us poison every day for profit.
